A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Hastings High School Hosts AP Art Show HASTINGS, N.Y. -- Hastings High School is hosting its 3rd Annual Advanced Placement Art Show in the Lloyd Library of the Farragut Complex. The reception is being held April 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the public is encouraged to attend. The exhibit features artwork and photography from the high school's highest level artists and photographers. The exhibit will be displayed on April 30 and May 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Deacon launched a Kickstarter campaign for Fable, his new farm-to-table business. Deacon has raised almost $6,400 of his $10,000 goal. Fable's goal is to provide the Hudson Valley with produce that is fresh and pesticide free. Yorktown Residents Protest Proposed Spectra Pipeline YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Yorktown residents rallied at town hall last week to speak out against a proposed pipeline that has drawn the ire of residents. The expansion of the Spectra Algonquin pipeline recently received approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.  The project involves replacing about 20.1 miles of natural gas pipeline that is 26 inches in diameter with larger pipeline material of 42 inches in diameter, according to FERC and would go through Yorktown. Mother Of Croton Child Who Died Upgraded To Serious Condition CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The mother of 6-year-old Lacey Carr, who was found unconscious along with her daughter in their Croton=On-Hudson home, has been upgraded to serious condition at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow. Both were taken to Phelps where Lacey was pronounced dead. Dymes had previously been in critical condition, according to Tina Dorfman, a spokeswoman for Phelps. Opt-Out Numbers Climb At Yorktown As Math Testing Begins YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The number of parents having their children opt out of state tests has increased substantially in Yorktown. In grades 3 to 5, 242 students declined to take the math tests, according to info provided by the Yorktown Central School District. In grades 6 to 8, 257 students declined.  This is approximately 30 percent of all eligible students, according to the district. Last year, 97 percent of all students participated in the tests, according to the distict.

Yorktown Police Investigating Assault With Baseball Bat At Sylvan Park YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Yorktown Police are continuing to look for two people who allegedly assaulted four people with a baseball bat at Glen Sylvan Park Preserve Thursday night. Two couples were camping out in the woods when they were attacked by two males who covered their faces with a bandana or mask, Lt. Robert Noble of the Yorktown Police said. Putnam Celebrates Opening Of Little League Season PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Little League baseball is off and running in Putnam County.  The season kicked off Saturday in most Putnam County communities with youngsters parading through the streets in their new baseball uniforms. In Brewster, players met at Southeast Veterans Park and marched to Markel Field. Little League has been an institution in Brewster since 1952.
