Mother Of Croton Child Who Died Upgraded To Fair Condition CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The mother of 6-year-old Lacey Carr, who was found unconscious along with her daughter in their Croton-On-Hudson home in April, has been upgraded to fair condition at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow. Both were taken to Phelps where Lacey was pronounced dead. Dymes had previously been in critical condition, according to Tina Dorfman, a spokeswoman for Phelps. Prep Work For Spectra Pipeline In Montrose Gets Approval From Ferc MONTROSE, N.Y. -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has granted Spectra Energy permission to start prep work in Montrose on its Algonquin Pipeline project. In a letter sent Tuesday, FERC said it granted an April 21 request to construct, modify and/or use the construction work areas for the project. One of the work areas is the Hudson East Yard in Montrose. The expansion of the Spectra Algonquin pipeline recently received approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.  The project involves replacing about 20.1 miles of natural gas pipeline that is 26 inches in diameter…

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Firefighters in Croton battled a large brush fire in Croton Point Park on Saturday. The fire was first reported at 5:37 p.m.  The cause of the fire has not been determined, according to Sgt. John Barirde, and did not spread to any buildings. There were no injuries, according to Barirde. The fire department dropped water from the air, while also using pumper trucks, tankers and ladder trucks to fight the fire, according to Barirde.

Bedford-Bred Upstart Finishes 18th In Kentucky Derby BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Upstart, a horse born and trained in Bedford and owned by Ralph Evans of Greenwich, Conn., mostly trailed the pack at the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Ky., Saturday. The horse, a thoroughbred who was raised at Sunnyfield Farms in Bedford, finished 18th out of 20 horses at the Annual Running of the Roses.  The race was run by American Pharoah, which beat out Firing Line and Dortmund to win the first leg of the Triple Crown.
