An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Lewisboro Seniors Enjoy Good Food, Dancing At Bedford Picnic BEDFORD, N.Y. -- On Sept. 8, Lewisboro seniors made the trip to Bedford to attend a picnic at Bedford Hills Pool and Park. The seniors said they enjoyed good food, bingo and music and had a great time.

Village Social Restaurant Opening In Rye This Fall RYE, N.Y. -- A Mount Kisco favorite is coming to Rye. Village Social is opening this fall at 67 Purchase Street. The Mount Kisco location has been open for six years. The new restaurant will have a brick oven for pizza, front sliding accordion doors and patio seating. The restaurant is the brainchild of Brian Candee, Joe Bueti, and Mogan Anthony, the chef. The menu will evolve around seasonal ingredients and nightly specials. In addition to Village Social in Mount Kisco, the partners also run Locali Pizza/Bar/Kitchen in New Canaan.

Army Football Player Killed In Croton Car Accident CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- A West Point cadet and Army football player was killed in a one-car accident early Sunday morning in Croton. Brandon Jackson, a 20-year-old Queens resident, was killed when his vehicle hit a guardrail on Route 9 near the 129 Municipal Place exit at 1:50 a.m., Sgt. John Nikitopoulos said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Nikitopoulos said. Ossining Bids Farewell To Summer With Waterfront Concert OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining is coming to grips with the end of summer.Hundreds of people came out to a waterfront concert Sept. 2 sponsored by the town and recreation department to bid farewell to the summer season. The concert featured performances from the Mike Risko Music Rock Band Workshop and the Old Mill Singers along with DJ Johnny G spinning tunes with the Hudson River as a backdrop.

Putnam, Dutchess Voters Head To Polls On Primary Tuesday Democrats and Republicans will each have a chance to pick their candidates when they go to the polls on Tuesday for state primaries. In the 40th Senate district, which includes Putnam and eastern Dutchess, incumbent Sen. Terrence Murphy is waiting to determine whether he will be challenged by Democrat Andrew Falk, who lives in Patterson and has unsuccessfully run for Assembly twice, or Ali Boak, a former Pound Ridge councilwoman. Habitat For Humanity Westchester Unveils 9-11 Sculpture NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Habitat For Humanity is helping people rise up from the horrors of Sept. 11.Habitat, as part of its annual 9/11 Build-A-Thon was gifted two pieces of art from Larchmont resident Paolo Corvino.
