An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Hawthorne's Crossfit XT Performs Exercises For Autism HAWTHORNE, N.Y. -- More than 50 athletes came together at Crossfit XT in Hawthorne to help raise funds and awareness of autism. The Lift Up Autism fundraiser was held at more than 650 crossfit gyms across the country. After making a donation, athletes were given five minutes to perform as many rounds and repetitions of specific exercises as possible. Each round consisted of 4 Power Cleans, 24 Double-Unders (having the rope pass twice beneath your feet for each jump) and 10 Pull-Ups. The event culminated in the athletes having a barbecue.

Two Pelham Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalsits PELHAM, N.Y. --  Two Pelham seniors are two of the top students in the country. Pelham Memorial High School seniors Benjamin Hurd and Jonathan Salama have been named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Tarrytown Resident Sentenced In Stabbing Death Of Fellow Teen SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- A 17-year-old Tarrytown resident was sentenced to 20 years in prison for stabbing a Sleepy Hollow high schooler in Oct. 2015. Berinzon Moronta was sentenced to state prison after pleading guilty to first degree manslaughter after stabbing Tahj Robinson, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Boak Defeats Falk To Win 40th Senate District Primary Ali Boak defeated Andrew Falk in the race to represent the Democratic Party in the 40th State Senate District against incumbent Terrence Murphy. Boak leads Falk 81 percent to 19 percent, 2,120 votes to 514 votes, according to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections with 64 percent of precincts reporting.
