An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Pound Ridge Fifth-Graders Build Character Through Ropes Course BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Fifth graders at Pound Ridge Elementary School learned all about the importance of teamwork last Thursday. Students got to play on the Fox Lane Middle School Ropes Course in Bedford. Together they climbed and conquered obstacles and bridges. The rope course was meant to help students build self-confidence and learn about trust and camaraderie.

Rye Gets Into Halloween Spirit RYE, N.Y. -- It is getting very spooky in Rye.  Elementary school students are painting the windows on the stores in Rye with Halloween ghosts, witches and goblins.  The event, which also included a bake sale, is sponsored by the Woman’s Club of Rye.  TD Bank also painted their windows with Halloween images including a vampire, a scarecrow and pumpkins.

Missing Wallaby Spotted Again In North Salem NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Indy, the North Salem wallaby that's been missing for more than two years, has been spotted back in town. According to Susan Bush, who cared for Indy with her husband, Warren Saks, Indy was spotted on Dingle Ridge Road Tuesday.  "We are happy that he has survived all of the challenges of living in the wild year- round," Bush said. "Now we are concerned about hunting season where, in color and facial structure, he resembles a young deer." Cortlandt Manor Man, 24, Killed In Route 202 Crash In Yorktown YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A motorcyclist was killed Thursday after he struck an SUV while on Route 202 at Garden Lane. Jack Bakmezian, a 24-year-old Cortlandt Manor resident, was ejected  from the motorcycle after he struck the SUV at 11:12 a.m., according to police. Bakmezian was taken to Hudson Valley Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead, according to police.  According to his LinkedIn page, Bakmezian was a carpenter Renu Contracting and Restoration in White Plains and attended Westchester Community College.  Yorktown Police are investigating the accident.

Croton-Harmon Bond Overwhelmingly Approved By Voters CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Voters in the Croton-Harmon school district overwhelmingly approved a $20.8 million bond that the district will spend on capital improvements Tuesday. The bond was approved 465 votes to 152 votes. The district said the bond will lead to building improvements at three schools, the district office and transportation facility.
