Cold Case: Bridgeport Man Charged With Murder In 2012 Norwalk Shooting NORWALK, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man was charged with murder Thursday in connection with a 2012 shooting death in Norwalk. Hakeem Atkinson, 22, of Bridgeport was charged as a result of a cold case investigation into the death of Joseph "Jabs" Bateman, who was shot behind the Avalon Gates housing complex on Belden Avenue in Norwalk on Feb. 3, 2012. One Fisherman Rescued From Penfield Lighthouse As Second Swims To Safety FAIRFIELD, Conn. — They are lucky to be alive: The Fairfield Fire Department rescued a fisherman who became stranded out at Penfield Lighthouse early Thursday morning while a second fisherman was able to swim to safety from Penfield Reef. The department received a call at around 6:45 a.m. reporting a person in distress at Penfield Lighthouse. Two Fairfield Fire Marine units immediately responded and began a search. Another Stamford Man Charged In Large-Scale Drug Operation STAMFORD, Conn. — Another Stamford man has been arrested as part of joint operation by the Stamford Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency that led to the arrest of 10 people last week. Timothy Armstrong, 48, of Stamford turned himself in on a warrant and was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, sale of narcotics and sale of marijuana. Stamford Man Who Made, Sold Bombs Arrested On Heroin Charges STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man arrested in 2011 for making and selling pipe bombs while he was living in Bridgeport, was arrested this week in Stamford on heroin charges, according to the Stamford Advocate. Nicholas Lahines, 43, had been arrested on May 19, 2011, after law enforcement officers discovered that he was making and selling explosive devices from his Bridgeport apartment. He was also involved in the distribution of methamphetamine, as well as immigration fraud. He pleaded guilty in 2012, and in April 2013 was sentenced to five years in prison and four years of supervised release…

Occupant Freed From Car After Crash In Bethel BETHEL, Conn. -- A person had to be freed from their car after a crash on Dodgington Road in Bethel Thursday afternoon. The Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to the area of 87 Dodgington Road in Bethel at around 3 p.m. on a report of a motor vehicle accident. One person was pinned in the vehicle, with their knee heavily entrapped around the dashboard, according to fire officials. Crash In Westport Closes Lanes On I-95 South WESTPORT, Conn. -- A crash near exit 18 on I-95 southbound in Westport has closed lanes and caused traffic delays Thursday afternoon. The accident was reported around 4:51 p.m. between exit 18 and 17. There were injuries reported in the multi-vehicle accident, according to state police. The left and center lanes are closed, as well as entrance ramps. Traffic is congested between exits 21 and 17. Motorists are advised to reduce speed when approaching the area.

45-Year-Old Bridgeport Man Headed To Federal Prison For Heroin Trafficking BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man was sentenced to nearly six years in prison for heroin trafficking, according to Deirdre M. Daly, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut. Alberto Colberg, 45, was sentenced Wednesday to 70 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
