Man Arrested On Assault Charged In Bridgeport Tries To Hang Himself BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A man arrested after a bar fight in Bridgeport tried to hang himself in his cell, according to the Connecticut Post. The man had been arrested in connection with a bar fight, and was suspected to be drunk, according to the Connecticut Post. While at Bridgeport Police headquarters at around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, guards saw on a video monitor that the man was attempting to hang himself in a holding cell, the Connecticut Post reported. Police Seek Burglary Suspect Who Hid In Norwalk Pharmacy Until Staff Left NORWALK, Conn. -- Police are seeking a suspect who hid out in a Norwalk pharmacy and waited until employees had left before stealing items. The commercial burglary occurred on Monday, Sept. 25 at around 11:28 p.m. at the Rite Aid located at 190 East Ave., police said. An individual entered the store prior to its closing, and hid out in the rear until the employees had left for the night. Norwalk Police Department Welcomes New Chaplain NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Police Department has appointed Father Sudhir DSouza as its newest chaplain. DSouza was appointed by the Police Commission at the recommendation of Chief Thomas Kulhawik. DSouza is currently the pastor of St. Philip Church.

Police: BMW Stolen From Darien Driveway Turns Up In Waterbury DARIEN, Conn. — A BMW was stolen from the driveway of a home on Point O'Woods Road South in Darien last week, though it was later recovered in Waterbury, according to police. The owner reported on Monday, Sept. 18 that his 2007 BMW 5 Series had been stolen from his driveway. He also reported that his other car, a Lexus SUV, had been entered, police said. Officers could see that the Lexus had been entered and the contents of the glove box had been strewn about the passenger's seat, though it appeared that nothing had been taken, police said. Wilton Police Promote Two Members WILTON, Conn. -- Two members of the Wilton Police Department were promoted during a ceremony on Monday. The Wilton Police Commission promoted Sergeant David Hartman to the rank of lieutenant, and Officer Timothy Fridinger to the rank of sergeant. Both officers took the Oath of Office issued by Town Clerk Lori Kaback, in the presence of family, friends and colleagues.

Norwalk Police Awards Officers For Investigating Overdoses, Car Thefts NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Police Department recognized Detective Nick Kougioumtzidis, Officer Max Sixto and Officer Chris Kassimis as the August 2017 Officers of the Month for their work investigating drug overdoses and stolen cars. Kougioumtzidis was recognized for his work investigating a pair of drug overdoses, one of which was fatal and one where the victim was saved. As a result of his investigation, a suspect was charged in connection with the overdoses, police said. Norwalk Woman Charged After Dog Left In Car Gets Treated For Heat Stroke NORWALK, Conn. — A dog was treated for heat stroke after being left in a car in Norwalk on Saturday, and its owner was charged with cruelty to animals, according to the Hour. Police were called to Bedford Street on Saturday afternoon on a report of a dog that had been left in a car for more than 20 minutes, the Hour reported. The temperature inside the car reached 132 degrees, according to the Hour. Darien Teen With Pot In Car Runs Into Woods To Try To Escape Cops DARIEN, Conn. — A teen with marijuana in his car ran into the woods when police caught him in a Darien park one night last week, according to police. At around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, an officer on patrol saw a black SUV parked in the entrance to Woodland Park on Middlesex Road. Given the time of day and the face that the park closes at dusk the officer pulled in to the park to tell the driver that the park was closed, police said. Shelton Man Charges With Possessing Gun, Running Out On Diner Bill HAMDEN, Conn. -- A Shelton man was arrested on gun charges after police say he left a diner in Hamden without paying, according to the the Connecticut Post.
