Westport Rowers Named To U.S. Junior National Team WESTPORT, Conn. --  Two junior rowers from Saugatuck Rowing Club in Westport will compete for the United States next month at the 2017 World Rowing Junior Championships in Trakai, Lithuania. Harrison Burke, 17, and Kelsey McGinley, 16, were named to the U.S. Junior National Team following a selection process that began in June. Bethel Firefighters Extinguish Garage Blaze BETHEL, Conn. -- Stony Hill and Bethel firefighters were able to put out a blaze in a garage Thursday night before it spread to the attached home. Nichols Firefighters Extinguish Car Blaze On Merritt Parkway TRUMBULL, Conn. -- The Nichols Fire Department leapt into action Thursday after a car caught fire on the Merritt Parkway in Trumbull. Firefighters were dispatched to the merge of the southbound Merritt and Route 25 at 5:11 p.m. Thursday on a report of a car fire.  The first arriving fire chief confirmed the report, fire officials said. Rescue 300 arrived on scene and began fire suppression operations. Additional arriving units aided in scene safety and overhaul of the burned car, fire officials said. Once the assigned tasks were complete, all units returned to service.

Worker Injured After Falling Off Roof In Wilton WILTON, Conn. --  A worker was taken to the hospital after falling off a roof in Wilton on Friday morning. Wilton Police received a 911 call at around 10 a.m. from a home on Olmstead Hill Road about a worker who had fallen off the roof. Police said the 26-year-old lost his balance and fell from a second-floor landing onto the ground below. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Norwalk Hospital.
