Stratford Police Cruiser Involved In Early Morning Crash STRATFORD, Conn. -- A Stratford Police cruiser rolled over and another car caught fire after a crash on Main Street on Tuesday morning, according to the Stratford Star. Police told the Stratford Star that a detective was driving south on Main Street at around 12:40 a.m. when it collided with another car at the intersection with Stratford Avenue. Route 116 In Ridgefield Closed After Tree Takes Down Wires RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- A portion of Route 116 in Ridgefield is closed Tuesday morning after a downed tree blocked the roadway, according to WLAD.The road is closed between Barrack Hill Road and Wooster Street after the tree took down utility wires, WLAD reported. Eversource is responding, and the road is expected to be closed for about five hours, according to WLAD.

Police ID Man Who Died After Boat Hit Buoy, Throwing Him Into LI Sound The 43-year-old man who died after being thrown from a boat into the water of Long Island Sound after it hit a buoy near New Haven Harbor late Saturday has been identified as Joseph Regan of Milford, according to the New Haven Register. The only passenger, a 47-year-old man from Guilford, was also ejected but swam back to the boat and radioed for help, the Register said. The Milford man was driving the 24-foot Seaswirl boat, the story said. Identity Thief Tries To Cash $24,000 Checks Using Darien Resident's Account DARIEN, Conn. -- Someone tried four times to cash fraudulent checks in excess of $24,000 using an account of a Darien resident, according to police. The complainant told police that one of his customers had experienced an attempt at fraudulent checks being cashed against his trust. About a week prior, two withdrawals had been made in the amounts of $5,000 and $2,500 from the account, police said. The complainant said he immediately notified the bank and had the funds replaced. Subway Shop In Bridgeport Burns Down In Suspected Arson BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Subway restaurant on Main Street in Bridgeport suffered extensive damage after a fire broke out in a suspected case of arson, according to the Connecticut Post.
