Westport Domestic Violence Task Force Launches 'Salons For Survivors' Drive WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Domestic Violence Task Force is looking for local salons willing to donate gift certificates for a haircut and color. These gift certificates would benefit the two local Domestic Violence Crisis Center shelters in the area. The women and children residing in these shelters have fled violent households, often with just the clothes on their backs. Many women in these shelters have been out of the work force for a while and want to prepare themselves for job interviews or they are looking to change their appearance to avoid an abuser. Darlene A. Cleary, 57, Former Norwalk Resident Darlene A. Cleary, a resident of Maybrook, entered into rest Friday, July 21 at MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was 57. Daughter of the late Ronald and Janet Hunyor LaMadeleine, she was born October 14, 1959 in Norwalk, Connecticut. Darlene worked as a bus driver for the Wappingers Central School District. She was a volunteer at MidHudson Regional Hospital. Darlene enjoyed crafting and cooking. She loved her dogs, Molly and Ruby. Lock Your Doors: 35 Unlocked Cars Stolen In Fairfield In Past Four Months FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield Police are warning residents to lock their cars and protect their belongings, as thieves have stolen 35 unlocked cars since April 1.In that span of time, there have also been 107 reports of thefts from cars, according to police. Humpback Whale Spotted On Long Island Sound A large humpback whale was spotted on the Long Island Sound near Cockenoe Island off the coast of Westport, Conn., Friday morning.Police said the Marine Unit responded after they received calls of the whale near Cockenoe Island. Fairfield Day Care Owner To Go To Trial In Death Of Shelton Baby FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The owner of an unlicensed Fairfield day care where a 4-month-old Shelton boy died last March, has rejected a plea deal and will go to trial, according to the Connecticut Post. Easton Man Charged With Violating Protective Order, Disorderly Conduct EASTON, Conn. -- An Easton man was charged with violating a protective order on Wednesday after he went back to a house he knew he had been ordered to stay away from, according to police. At around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Easton Police were dispatched to a home on a reported domestic dispute.
