Nearly 9-Foot Long Boa Constrictor On Loose In Connecticut There is an eight-and-a-half-foot-long boa constrictor on the loose in Connecticut. The snake was first spotted Sunday, Sept. 5, in Middlesex County by an East Haddam resident, slithering across a street during a thunderstorm, reported WTNH News 8. And while the snake is a first for the town, the snake's owner was surprised to see his snake on social media. Two New West Nile Cases Confirmed In Massachusetts Two new cases of West Nile Virus have been identified in Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced on Thursday, Sept. 9 today the new cases were found in a man and a woman in Middlesex County. According to DPH, the two people are a man in his 50s and a man in his 70s. In addition, on Wednesday, Sept. 8, DPH announced the first human case of the virus identified in Massachusetts this year was also likely exposed in Middlesex County. Popular Family-Run Supermarket Adding New Location In Fairfield County A popular family-run supermarket known for its upscale food and service is adding a new location in the area. After several years of zoning issues, Caraluzzi's Market is finally back to work on its fourth Fairfield County store, which will be located in Danbury. Two Dead During Shooting That Also Targeted Officers In Fairfield County, Police Say Police officers were fired upon after they responded to a home in which two people were found shot dead in Fairfield County. The incident took place around 1:25 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, in Bridgeport. Officers responded to 390 Platt St. and were fired upon as they approached the residence on foot, according to Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran. Suspect Nabbed After Lengthy Investigation Into Armed Gas Station Robbery In Area A man has been charged in connection with an armed gas station robbery that took place more than two years ago. Dutchess County resident Patrick Simmons, age 55, of Hyde Park, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 6, for the incident which took place in April 2019 in the town of Pleasant Valley. Woman Nabbed For Fatal Hit-Run Crash Near Hotel In Area A woman has been nabbed for a hit-run crash that left a man dead near an area hotel. It happened around 10:50 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, in Sullivan County, in the town of Mamakating. New York State Police responded to Route 209 near Perron Drive in Sullivan County for the report of an unresponsive man in the roadway. Person Carjacked In Fairfield County By Three Men With Gun, Police Say Police are searching for three men who allegedly carjacked a person at gunpoint in Fairfield County. The incident took place around 1:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8 in the 200 block of Cottage Street, said Scott Appleby, director of emergency management. According to Appleby, the men approached the driver of a Ford Fusion and threatened the victim before taking off with the car. Bridgeport police are investigating the incident. Fairfield County Firefighter Dies While Rock Climbing, Police Say A firefighter in Fairfield County who died from injuries he sustained while rock climbing in New York's Hudson Valley had nearly reached the 200-foot mark of his climb when he fell and was killed. ID Released For Long Island Man Killed In Crash Involving Drunk Driver, Police Say Police have identified a man who was killed during a two-vehicle crash in which a Long Island man was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Miguel Berdecia, age 46, of Central Islip, was killed around 12:25 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, on Sunrise Highway in Sayville, said the Suffolk County Police.
