Area Man Charged In Connection To Homicide On Residential Street
An area man has been charged for the murder of another man.
Greg Thayer, age 48, of Kingston, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 29, for the death of Bruce Swierc, of Torrance, California, in the town of Ulster.
Thayer was arrested after police responded to a 911 call for a deceased man at a home on Magic Drive in Ulster, according to Police Chief Kyle Berardi, of the town of Ulster.
As a result of an investigation, Swierc was found to be the victim of a homicide and identified Thayer as the suspect, the chief said.

Man Charged With Kidnapping Area Woman From Hotel At Gunpoint, Police Say
A man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a woman from an area hotel at gunpoint.
Christopher Reed, age 41, of San Antonio, Texas, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 27, after police responded to the Rodeway Inn on Forest Hill Drive in the town of Ulster for a report of a woman taken at gunpoint.
An investigation revealed that Reed had displayed a weapon while demanding the woman get into the vehicle with him, according to Chief Kyle Berardi, of the Ulster Police.
As a result, a county-wide notice was put out attempting to locate Reed's vehicle, Berardi said.

Dutchess County Sheriff Butch Anderson Dies

Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian "Butch" Anderson, who has led the department for more than 20 years, has died.
Anderson, age 73, of Pawling, died in his sleep on Wednesday, Sept. 29, according to officials.
Anderson, who started his career with the Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 1, 1970, as a deputy sheriff worked his way up the ladder and was elected sheriff in 1999 and took office in January 2000.
