Long Island Man Attacked Victim With Machete, Struck Him With Vehicle, Police Say
A Long Island man is behind bars for alleged attempted murder after he assaulted another man with a machete and struck him with a vehicle, authorities say.
Rosali Marquez, age 38, was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 28, by Suffolk County Police, with assistance from the US Marshals Service, for attacking the man last month in Brentwood.
According to police, Marquez was driving in a vehicle with an acquaintance in Brentwood on Friday, Sept. 10 when the men got into a fight and Marquez stopped the vehicle on Grove Street at approximately 9:40 p.m.

Man Admits Setting Former Girlfriend’s House On Fire In Area
A Hudson Valley man pleaded guilty in connection with setting a house fire while his girlfriend and family were inside.
Orange County resident Nicholas Fontaine, age 23, of Monroe, pleaded guilty Wednesday, Oct. 27, to arson, in connection with the May house fire, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
According to the District Attorney's Office, Fontaine's former girlfriend and her family were in the house at the time the fire erupted, damaging the outside of the residence and destroying a car in the driveway of the residence.

Dog Shot, Killed After Attacking Four Including Officer On Long Island
A dog was fatally shot after attacking four people, including a police officer on Long Island.
The incident took place around 12:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27 in Setauket.
That's when Suffolk County Police responded to a home on St. George Glen Road for a report of a dog attacking three residents.
According to police, when officers arrived on the scene, a 6-year-old English Bulldog attacked the officer, and the officer shot and killed the dog.
The residents, two women, and a man, along with the officer, were transported to Stony Brook Hospital for treatment, police said.

Six Nabbed On Long Island For Drugs, Gun, Police Say
Six people were arrested on Long Island after police conducted a search and allegedly found an assault rifle, drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
The arrest took place around midnight on Wednesday, Oct. 27 in New Cassel, said the Nassau County Police.
According to Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives, members conducted a search warrant at 52 4th Avenue.
During the investigation, detectives recovered an assault rifle, crack, cocaine, sedatives, opioids, ecstasy, cash, and numerous articles of drug paraphernalia.
