28-Year-Old UConn Grad Student Struck, Killed By Car In Crosswalk, State Police Say
Connecticut State Police are asking witnesses to a crash that left a UConn researcher and graduate student dead after he was struck by a car.
Tolland County resident Nhuong Nguyen, age 28, was killed around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30 in Mansfield while walking in the crosswalk on South Eagleville Road, said the Connecticut State Police.
A westbound 2008 Hyundai Elantra struck Nguyen just west of Eastwood Road, state police said.
Nguyen, of Mansfield, was transported to Windham Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A health department is warning residents they could have been exposed to COVID-19 during an event in the Hudson Valley.
The Orange County Health Department is advising residents that if they worked or attended the Hung with Care event hosted by Big Gay Hudson Valley, located at Hudson Valley Arts Live, 299 Washington St., in Newburgh, on Friday, Nov. 26, they may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Area Man Nabbed For Burglary Of Auto Glass Business, Police Say
An area man has been charged with allegedly burglarizing a business and then stealing a car to get away.
Sullivan County resident Trevor Tompkins, age 25, of Monticello, was arrested on Monday, Nov. 29 for the Thursday, Nov. 11 robbery, police said.
According to Lt. Mark Johnstone, of the Monticello Police Department, Tompkins was arrested following an investigation in which he was caught on video surveillance.
The burglary took place around 4 a.m. at the Safelite Auto Glass store at 51 Forestburg Road in the Village of Monticello, Johnstone said.
