An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Ossining Cafe Honored By General Mills For Shrimp Etoufee OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining's Wobble Cafe has some of the best food in the country, at least according to General Mills. On Wednesday, Beylka Krupp, owner of Wobble Cafe, at 21 Campwoods Road, was honored with a $10,000 check by General Mills Foodservice for being a finalist in the Neighborhood to Nation for her shrimp etoufee over cornbread recipe. General Mills asked neighborhood restaurants to submit a recipe for a dish that reflects their local favor. The recipe was inspired by Krupp's time in New Orleans. Former Peekskill Resident, Famed Romance Novelist Bertrice Small Dies At 77 PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Bertrice Small, a prolific romance novelist who attended school in Peekskill, died on Feb. 24, according to The New York Times, at the age of 77. Small published 56 romance novels. Her writing career began at St. Mary's, a school for girls run by nuns, in Peekskill according to the Times, where she found out one of her teachers had been one of her favorite authors. Her first novel, about an Inca princess who jumped from Machu Picchu in Peru rather than commit to an evil Spanish conquistador, was inspired by her time at St. Mary's, according to the Times. Snow Blankets Northern Westchester, Causing Numerous Closures WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y . -- Westchester residents are certainly feeling the roar of March. The region was hit with another snowstorm Thursday, bringing up to 6 inches of snow in some areas, though most regions received between 3-4 inches. Former Lakeland Teacher's Artwork On Display In Patterson PATTERSON, N.Y . -- An exhibit in Patterson inspired by the color red was just perfect for Putnam Valley artist Joann Zwolski. Zwolski's painting, "Cool Heat," is part of the Front Steet Gallery's red exhibit, which continues through March 29. "I am so excited to be a part of this show," Zwolski said. Cold Spring Artist Featured In Patterson Exhibit COLD SPRING, N.Y. -- A lifelong photographer from Cold Spring is having her work featured at the Front Street Gallery in Patterson this month. Jane Soodalter's photography is part of the Front Street Gallery's exhibit of red art work through March 29. Firefighters Battle Peekskill Blaze That Displaces 13 PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Firefighters are still at the scene of a structure fire that occurred at 209 South Division Street Wednesday night. The fire ripped through several apartments, according to Sgt. Sam Kenan of the Peekskill Police Department. The building and an adjacent building were evacuated and no injuries were reported, according to Kenan. Firefighters are still at the scene investigating the fire and do not know how the fire started, according to Kenan. The fire has displaced 13 people, according to lohud.com.

Pleasantville High School Cast Gets Set To Perform 'Man Of La Mancha' PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y . -- Some interesting characters have been roaming the halls of Pleasantville High School. Peekskill Girls Fall In Class A Championship PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill High School's varsity girls basketball team came just short of a gold ball. The Lady Red Devils lost to Albertus Magnus 56-49 in the Section 1 Class A final at the Westchester County Center in White Plains in a tight contest Monday. The Lady Red Devils were the two-time defending champions in Class A. Lanay Rodney was named to the all tournament team.
