An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Westchester Resident Finishes Third On 'Jeopardy!' SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Sleepy Hollow resident Mike Solano took home $1,000 after his third place finish on 'Jeopardy!' Friday. Solano, a speech pathologist, said it was a lifelong dream to appear on the game show, which he taped on March 30. The Sleepy Hollow resident got off to a good start getting the first clue right from the category 'S' words. The clue was: legally it's a defamation of speech and Solano correctly guessed slander. Bernie Sanders Endorses Westchester's Hillary Clinton For President The Democratic primary contest has come to an end. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders endorsed Hillary Clinton, a Chappaqua resident, for the Democratic nomination for president Tuesday at a rally in New Hampshire. “I intend to do everything I can to make certain that she will be the next president of the United States," Sanders said. “I have come here to make it as clear as possible why I am endorsing Hillary Clinton and why she must become our next president.” The two candidates waged a competitive battle for the nomination. Man Pleads Guilty To Westchester Roadside Murder OSSINING, N.Y. -- A 27-year-old Yonkers resident pleaded guilty Monday to murdering a 62-year-old Yonkers man and dumping his body in Ossining. Joaquin Garcia pleaded guilty to murder in the first degree and faces 25 years to life for the murder of Luis Blanco, which occurred in Yonkers in August 2015. A jogger found Blanco's body along Route 133 and an autopsy determined he had been stabbed multiple times in the head, neck and torso, and had been shot in the back of the head, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Officer Injured In Tarrytown McDonald's Altercation Due To Return To Work TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- The Tarrytown police officer who was injured after an altercation with a teen at McDonald's last week will be returning to light duty July 21, Tarrytown police said. Rye Town Park Celebrates 100+ Years Of Summer Fun RYE, N.Y. -- The Rye Town Park, where Rye residents hang out during the summer, is over 100 years old and is a national landmark. Back in 1907, bands played on the balcony of the bathing pavilion while patrons danced. Mandatory clothing on the beach meant men wore bathing suits with tops and women wore swimming dresses with black stockings. Bathing suits could be rented for 20 cents.
