An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Ossining Principal Joshua Mandel Reflects On Impending Retirement OSSINING, N.Y. -- For Joshua Mandel, being principal at Ossining High School has been a dream job. Mandel, a Briarcliff resident who grew up in New City and later attended East Ramapo High School, announced his retirement in December at the end of the school year. Mandel has been with Ossining since 1994 where he started as principal at Roosevelt School. He later served as principal at Brookside School and became high school principal in 1998. Andrew Cuomo as soon as Monday ends a long and often controversial chapter. Cortlandt Supervisor Upset Town Was Not Informed About Indian Point Deal CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Cortlandt Supervisor Linda Puglisi said she only found out about the closing of Buchanan-based Indian Point from The New York Times. Croton Teenager Performing At Lincoln Center CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.-- Rebecca Zinn, a 13-year-old who lives in Croton, is set to live every singer's dream. Zinn will be performing with the HaZamir Choir, an international Jewish High School Choir, at Lincoln Center on March 26, as part of the Annual HaZamir Festival. Pleasantville Man Killed In Taconic Parkway Crash In Yorktown ID'd YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Police have identified the man killed in a single-car accident on the Taconic Parkway in Yorktown Thursday. Anthony Giorgio, a 71-year-old Pleasantville resident, was killed at approximately 12:30 p.m. when he drove off an embankment on the parkway into the woods and struck a guide rail near southbound exit 13. (Underhill Avenue/Croton-on-Hudson/Yorktown Heights) Giorgio was pronounced dead at the scene. Giorgio was the only occupant of the vehicle and the accident continues to be investigated, according to Trooper Melissa McMorris of the New York State Police.

Former Putnam Valley Football Player Killed In Yorktown Motorcycle Crash YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Erik Godinho, a 20-year-old who played football for Putnam Valley High School, was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday in Yorktown Heights. Godinho collided with another car Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Route 132 and Barberry Road in Yorktown, Lt. Tom Gentner said. The two-car accident remains under investigation, Gentner said. No one else was injured in the accident, Gentner said.
