An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Burcescu, a 6'3 junior at Water Panas High School was named the 2016-2017 Gatorade New York Volleyball Player of the Year. Burcescu is the first Walter Panas student to win the award. It was a banner year for Walter Panas volleyball, as it won the state championship for the first time this year, with a 51-2-4 record. Burcescu recorded 663 kills, 125 service aces and 103 blocks. Riverkeeper Applauds Indian Point Closing OSSINING, N.Y. -- For years, Riverkeeper had been a thorn in the side of Indian Point, a nuclear power plant in Buchanan.  On Monday, Entergy, which owns Indian Point, announced it will close the nuclear plant by 2021 as part of an agreement with Riverkeeper, an Ossining-based organization dedicated to defending New York's waterways. Ossining Man Celebrates 107th Birthday TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- In his 107 years, Gunter Lorenz, who lives in Ossining, has seen it all. Lorenz celebrated his 107th birthday Wednesday at the JCC Mid-Hudson in Tarrytown, where a party was thrown in his honor and cake was served. Lorenz celebrated his 106th birthday at the same location. "I feel fine," Lorenz said. "I couldn't feel better." The centenarian was born in Poland in 1910 and moved to New York in 1940.
