Signup Begins Monday For Child, Adult Programs At Darien Arts Center
DARIEN, Conn. – We may be in the dog days of summer, but it’s never too soon to look toward autumn opportunities.The Darien Arts Center at 2 Renshaw Road offering a variety of classes this fall for children and adults. Registration opens on Monday.
Children’s classes include:
Kids’s Theatre
Beginning Acting, grades K-2
Actor’s Toolbox, grades 3-5
Dance (Ballet, Hip Hop, Tap, or Martial Arts)
Music (private lessons available)
Vocal Divas, ages 7-12

Trumbull Police, Bridgeport NAACP Organize Joint Community Forum
TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Trumbull police, in cooperation with the Greater Bridgeport branch of the NAACP, have scheduled a community forum to discuss police/community relations, according to a statement from Police Chief Michael Lombardo.The two-hour event, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, is to be held at the Frenchtown Elementary School on Frenchtown Road, according to Lombardo.
George Mintz, president of the local NAACP branch, is to attend the event along with Lombardo.

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Rev. Peter Wilson, a popular religious and community leader in Mount Vernon, has died, according to a statement from Mayor Richard Thomas.Wilson, the longtime pastor at Mt. Zion Christian Baptist Church, moved to Mount Vernon soon after graduating high school in Panola, Ala., according to a biography on the church website.
