CT Girl Killed After Being Hit By Car While Talking With Family Member, Police Say
A 14-year-old Connecticut girl was killed after being hit by a car while she stood and talked with another driver in a Dodge Charger.
The accident took place in Litchfield County around 9 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, when the teen was talking with the driver of the Charger, who was a family member, on Route 222 (Hill Road), in Harwinton, said Connecticut State Pollice.
The teen who was standing on the shoulder of the roadway was hit when the second car, a Pontiac, swerved to the miss the stopped Charger, state police said.

Body Of Wall Street Escort From Fairfield County Found Stuffed In Barrel
A high-end escort whose body was found stuffed in a barrel and dumped on a quiet residential street in the region was born and raised in Fairfield County.
Nicole Flanagan, age 42, of Greenwich, was found on Friday, Aug. 13, stuffed in the barrel in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey after residents noticed a horrible smell coming from it, according to a report in The New York Post.
Flanagan, the mother of three, was born in Greenwich, and has family in town, according to her obituary.

Fairfield County Man Arrested For Preventing Uber Driver From Leaving With Customer, Police Say
An area man has been arrested for allegedly preventing a person he had a domestic dispute with from leaving with an Uber driver.
Fairfield County resident Timothy Flay, age 23, of Norwalk, was arrested on Saturday, Aug. 14 by Darien Police for not allowing an Uber driver to leave with a paying customer, said Sgt. James Palmieri.
When Darien Police arrived on the scene, it was determined that after an argument with the victim, Flay was physically blocking the victim from leaving in an Uber vehicle, Palmieri said.

Three Gang Members In Area Nabbed For Stabbing, Police Say
Three gang members have been charged with allegedly stabbing a man.
The incident took place around 1 a.m., Friday, Aug. 20 when City of Poughkeepsie officers on patrol spotted the three chase, tackle, punch, kick and stab the victim.
As the officers pulled up to the scene the three men fled and were chased on foot into the area of N. White, Main Streets, and the eastbound arterial, said Detective Lieutenant Matt Clark.
A perimeter was set up around that area and eventually, all three suspects were taken into custody.

LI Correction Officer Nabbed For Smuggling Contraband Into Jail, DA Says
A Long Island corrections officer has been arrested for allegedly smuggling contraband, including cigarettes and lighters, into an area correction center in exchange for bribes.
Harris Ferro, age 35, who faces up to seven years in prison, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 20, on a 22-count indictment, said acting Nassau County District Attorney Joyce Smith.
“Officers who accept bribes and compromise the integrity of their position for personal financial gain threaten the safety of their fellow officers and undermine the County’s correction system,” said Smith.

CT Man Accused Of Stealing Some $200K In Cigarettes, Police Say
A Connecticut man has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $200,000 in cigarettes from his employer.
Luis Cruz, age 35, of New Haven, was arrested on Monday, Aug. 16, in Milford on an active warrant.
According to Milford Police, Cruz is accused of stealing approximately $240,500 worth of cigarettes between February and July of 2021 from his place of employment, Montano Distributors.
He was charged with larceny and is being held on a $250,000 bond.
ID Released For Fleeing Driver Involved In Crash After Exiting Taconic Parkway
The driver of the vehicle involved in a police pursuit and crash has been identified by New York State Police.
Allan P. Forbes, age 31, was arrested after the incident in Dutchess County began in East Fishkill around 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 19 when troopers stopped the car for allegedly speeding.
As the trooper was questioning Forbes, of the Bronx, during the stop on the Taconic State Parkway, he took off, exiting the Taconic and heading eastbound on Route 52, state police said.
