Operator Of Company In Fairfield County Admits To Tax Evasion
A Fairfield County company owner has pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion.
Robert Porzio, age 48, of Westport, plead guilty on Thursday, Dec. 16, following an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service, said Leonard C Boyle, acting US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Porzio, who operates Bert’s Tree Service, Inc., deposited numerous customers’ checks into personal bank accounts, transferred a significant portion of the funds into a personal investment account, and kept from the corporation’s bookkeeper his receipt …
Long Island Man Convicted Of Attempting To Murder Four Police Officers
A Long Island man has been convicted for attempting to kill four Nassau County police officers during a traffic stop.
Duane Costa, age 37, of Uniondale, was found guilty on Thursday, Dec. 16 of four counts of attempted murder and other charges in connection with the 2018 stop, said Acting Nassau County District Attorney Joyce Smith.

Man Calling Himself 'Lucifer' Arrested For Murder In Fairfield County Store, Police Say
A Fairfield County man who called himself Lucifer has been arrested for allegedly killing a man and then robbing him after he was dead.
Luis Morales, age 31, of Bridgeport was arrested late Thursday evening, Dec. 16, for the shooting death of 23-year-old Clinton Taylor, at a local store earlier in the night, said the Bridgeport Police.
According to Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport, the shooting took place around 9:15 p.m. at Sammy's Grocery & Dollar Store, at 500 Park Ave.
Taylor is the grandson of former Bridgeport city councilwoman Denese Taylor-Moye.

Two Suffolk County Men Arrested In Connection With Overdose Death, Police Say
Two Long Island men have been arrested in connection with an overdose death.
Two Suffolk County men, Justin Ivanditto, age 30, Bay Shore, and Kendel Burnette, age 29, of Amityville, were arrested in connection with the Sunday, Dec. 5 death of a person in North Massapequa in Nassau County.
According to Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives, an investigation into a fatal overdose of a Nassau County resident led to the arrest of the two men.
