Man Sentenced In Shooting Death Of 22-Year-Old Peekskill Resident PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- A 25-year-old Peekskill resident was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for killing a man on Park Street last December. Janiel Myke was sentenced after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the first degree, (a Class B violent felony), in the shooting death of Stephen Agosto of Peekskill. Myke shot Agosto three times with a stolen handgun in front of 1431 Park Street, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Putnam Valley Firefighters Battle Brush Fire PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. --  A brush fire in Lake Peekskill kept firefighters busy Monday afternoon. The brush fire, which occurred on Reichert Street on a 200 x 400 area in "rocky terrain," according to Putnam Valley Fire Chief Shawn Keeler. Firefighters were able to put out the fire in 90 minutes and are still on the scene cleaning up. "It had a good jump on us," Keeler said. "It spread quickly, but we were able to contain it." The cause of the fire is under investigation. Mutual aid was provided by Mahopac Falls, Continental Village and Mohegan Lake.

The Panthers knocked off New Paltz on Saturday 56-20 to advance to the state semifinals, where they will meet Glen Falls at Dietz Field in Kingston on Nov. 19 at 3 p.m..
