An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Pleasantville Dance Studio Plans Special Show For Blythedale PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Artistry Dance Project has already raised tens of thousands for Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla and the best is yet to come. The studio, at 141 Tompkins Avenue in Pleasantville, is putting together three holiday shows Saturday to raise money for Blythedale. The shows will feature 31 company members ranging from 5 to 17. Briarcliff Commercial Waste Hauler Charged With 40 Counts Of Fraud, Theft BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- A Florida resident was charged Friday with a 40-count indictment for a fraud and theft scheme centered around a trash hauling business based in Briarcliff. Stephen DiSalvo, a 60-year-old Florida resident, was charged Friday with 19 counts of forgery in the 2nd degree, a Class C felony, multiple counts of grand larceny, four counts of petit larceny and one count of scheme to defraud in the first degree. Man Sentenced In Shooting Death Of 22-Year-Old Peekskill Resident PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- A 25-year-old Peekskill resident was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for killing a man on Park Street last December. Janiel Myke was sentenced after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the first degree, (a Class B violent felony), in the shooting death of Stephen Agosto of Peekskill. Myke shot Agosto three times with a stolen handgun in front of 1431 Park Street, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Go The Distance At Alamo Drafthouse Rocky Marathon YONKERS, N.Y. -- To sit all through seven Rocky movies, you're going to need the eye of the tiger and be ready to fly high now. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic boxing franchise, the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers is screening all seven Rocky movies on Dec. 3, starting at 11 a.m. Six of the movies, including "Creed" will be screened in 35 mm. Ossining Farm Launches Crowdsourcing Campaign OSSINING, N.Y. -- Tucked away on Route 134 near the Taconic State Parkway in Ossining is a working farm that's looking to expand. Teen Sentenced To 25 Years In Death Of Yonkers Baseball Player WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- An 18-year-old was sentenced to 25 years in state prison for his part in the death of Michael Nolan, a prospect for the Oakland Athletics. Nashaun Hunter of the Bronx pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree, a Class E felony. Pleasantville Family Collects Candy For Veterans PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The Bedford Road School PTA has figured out the perfect solution for all the excess candy for Halloween. For years, the PTA has been collecting and donating the candy to the VA Hudson Valley in Montrose. Irvington-Based Mrs. Green's Closing Two Westchester Locations Mrs. Green's Natural Market announced plans to close two stores in Westchester and two in Fairfield County and restock its remaining five Westchester stores amid concerns from customers about empty shelves. Putnam Valley Firefighters Battle Brush Fire PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- A brush fire in Lake Peekskill kept firefighters busy Monday afternoon. The brush fire, which occurred on Reichert Street on a 200 x 400 area in "rocky terrain," according to Putnam Valley Fire Chief Shawn Keeler. Firefighters were able to put out the fire in 90 minutes and are still on the scene cleaning up. "It had a good jump on us," Keeler said. "It spread quickly, but we were able to contain it." The cause of the fire is under investigation. Mutual aid was provided by Mahopac Falls, Continental Village and Mohegan Lake.

Pleasantville Panthers Football Advances To State Semifinals PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The Pleasantville Panthers football team keeps making history. The Panthers knocked off New Paltz on Saturday 56-20 to advance to the state semifinals, where they will meet Glen Falls at Dietz Field in Kingston on Nov. 19 at 3 p.m.. It is the farthest the program, which is 10-0 this season, has advanced in its history.
