An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Victor Delprete, 63, Cortlandt Manor CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. -- Victor J. Delprete, Jr., a resident of Cortlandt Manor and formerly of Ossining died on May 16 at the age of 63. Delprete was born in Bronxville on Feb. 18, 1954, and was the son of the late Victor and Mary (Longhi) Delprete.  Delprete was a retired groundskeeper with the Chappaqua School System and he retired around 2011. Gov. Cuomo's Approval Rating Trending Upward New Yorkers are liking what they see from their governor. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, saw his favorability ratings hit its highest level in almost three years, according to a Siena College poll. Cuomo has a 61-31 percent favorability rating, up from 54-36 percent last month. The poll also found 53 percent of voters would re-elect him to a third term, while 36 percent would prefer someone else. Cuomo is up for re-election next year. Hillside Lake Tax District Eliminated By East Fishkill Voters EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Voters overwhelmingly decided to dissolve the Hillside Lake taxing district in East Fishkill. Voters voted 183-3 to dissolve the district Saturday, which was created nearly twenty years ago. The East Fishkill Town Board has six months to come up with a plan for the lake, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. The town took over the lake in 1990 from a homeowner's association. Residents have accused the town of neglecting the lake, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Hen Hud Girls Lacrosse Team Advances To Finals MONTROSE, N.Y. -- For the first time in school history, the Sailors girls lacrosse team are going to the finals.The Hendrick Hudson Girls Lacrosse Team knocked off #1 seed Byram Hills in the Section 1 Class C Seminals Tuesday 9-7. Junior Mackenzie Porter made 11 saves while junior midfielder Rachel Palka had 4 goals.  The Sailors won the game despite being down by three goals in the 2nd half. Poughkeepsie Resident Playing Soccer In Brazil POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Kevin Hoff, a Poughkeepsie resident, will be living every soccer player's dream.The Arlington High School grad who plays soccer at SUNY Oneonta will be heading to Brazil for a soccer tour. While at Arlington, Hoff led the school to a state title in 2012. Hoff, a junior at Oneonta, is one of 15 players who play Division 3 soccer selected for the trip. He will be in Brazil from May 29 to June 7 and play three exhibition matches.
