Alfred John Raffio Sr., 84, Former New Rochelle Resident
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Alfred John Raffio Sr., a Delaware resident, formerly of New Rochelle, died on Sunday, Jan. 10. He was 84.
He was born on May 6, 1931, in New Rochelle, to Emilio Raffio and Carmellia Raffio Spalleno.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, Raffio worked for the Ursuline School of New Rochelle for many years. After nearly a lifetime in New Rochelle, he retired in Delaware.
Raffio is survived by sons Emil Raffio of Delaware, Michael Raffio of Connecticut and John Raffio of Florida; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

William 'Bill' Sloatman Jr., 97, Longtime Former Stamford Resident
STAMFORD, Conn. -- William "Bill" Samuel Sloatman Jr., a resident of Litchfield Beach, S.C. and formerly a longtime resident of Stamford, died Friday, Jan. 8. He was 97.
Born in Germantown, Pa., Sloatman studied chemical engineering at Penn State. As a research chemist with American Cyanamid during World War II, he contributed to the war effort by designing materials for lighter aircraft and safer helmets.

Arnaldo Pensiero, 91, Longtime Stamford Resident
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Arnaldo Pensiero, a longtime resident of Stamford, died Tuesday, Jan. 19. He was 91.
Born in Italy, Pensiero immigrated to the United States in 1956. He worked as a carpenter for 40 years, until his retirement in 1996, and was a proud member of CT Local Union 210.
When he wasn't working, he enjoyed working in the garden, going fishing and following S.S.C. Napoli -- the professional soccer club based out of Naples, Italy. Pensiero was at his happiest when he was spending time with his family.

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Alfred C. Pinto, a Venice, Fla. resident and formerly of Stamford, died Monday, Jan. 11. He was 87.
A veteran of the Korean War, Pinto was a member of the VFW. His love of sports allowed him to spend endless hours with his family, who he adored.

Brian C. Colgan Jr., 39, East Rutherford Resident
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- East Rutherford resident Brian C. Colgan died Friday, Jan. 15. He was 39.
Colgan was a member of the Knights of Columbus Trinity Council No. 747 in Hackensack.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara (Donohue) Colgan; sister Elizabeth Garcia and her husband Joe; and niece Gisella Garcia.
