Westport Police: Intoxicated Woman Kicked Officer, Tried To Run WESTPORT, Conn. -- An intoxicated woman started screaming, tried to run away from police and kicked an officer in the stomach in Westport in late August. At around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, police were dispatched to the area of 397 Post Road East on a report of an intoxicated female. An officer checked the area and located 35-year-old Amy LaFrance of West Haven on the west side of the CVS building, police said. Waterbury Tutor Charged With Sexually Assaulting Juvenile In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- A tutor from Waterbury was charged with sexually assaulting and taking nude photos of a juvenile in Westport, according to police. The Westport Police Department received a complaint from a juvenile in August who said that they had been sexually assaulted by a tutor over a period of time. The tutor was identified as 40-year-old Juan Torres Jr. of Waterbury, police said. The juvenile victim further reported that Torres had taken nude photos of them, according to police. More Unlocked Cars With Keys Inside Stolen In New Canaan NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Two cars were stolen in New Canaan early Monday morning after they were left unlocked with the keys inside, according to police. The New Canaan Police Department received two complaints of stolen cars on Monday morning. One vehicle, a Range Rover, was stolen from Kimberly Place, while the other, an Acura MDX, was stolen from Woodridge Drive, police said. Stamford Man Busted On Pot-Selling Charges In Darien Park DARIEN, Conn. -- A Stamford man was charged with selling marijuana after police found drugs, a scale and baggies in his car in Woodland Park in Darien, police said. An officer was on patrol on Tuesday, Sept. 5, saw a car parked in the Woodland Park lot after dusk, which is when the park closes. Easton Police: Homeless Man Broke Into Ex-Wife's Home, Assaulted Her EASTON, Conn. -- A homeless man was charged with breaking into his ex-wife's Easton home and assaulting her last week, according to police. Police received a 911 call at around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8 from a Deepwood Road resident, reporting that her ex-husband had broken into her home and assaulted her, police said. She said that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation. New Canaan Police: Bridgeport Man Stole From Patients To Pay Gas Bill NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- An employee of a residential treatment facility in New Canaan was charged with stealing more than $2,500 from two patients, which he used to pay a gas bill, according to police. New Canaan Police received complaints on Aug. 2 and Aug. 22 from two patients regarding identity theft and larceny at the treatment facility. Stamford Man Robbed Cab Driver But Left ID Behind, Police Say STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man was charged with pulling a gun on a cab driver and robbing him after being picked up from the train station on Sunday morning, according to the Stamford Advocate. Shelton Rallies For Neighborhood Helper Burned In A Garage Explosion SHELTON, Conn. — Joe Tremblay of Shelton suffered severe burns to his hands and face when a garage he worked in exploded and caught fire last week, and now needs the community's help on his road to recovery. Tremblay's garage at his home on Edgewood Avenue caught fire on Thursday night. Thieves Steal $600 Worth Of Used Cooking Oil From Darien Restaurant DARIEN, Conn. -- Someone stole $600 worth of used cooking oil from behind a restaurant on Heights Road in Darien last week. Officers responded to Jimmy's Southside on Heights Road at around 3:41 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and met with an employee of a company that purchases used cooking oil from restaurants. The employee said that he had come to the rear of the restaurant to collect the cooking oil and found the lock to the container was cut, and the grease had been removed, police said. Bridgeport Woman Gets Prison Time For Unemployment Fraud BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport woman was sentenced to prison for fraudulently collecting nearly $3,000 in unemployment benefits and submitting fake documents to obtain favorable treatment in court. Christie M. Gray, 41, of Bridgeport pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of third-degree larceny and one count of second-degree forgery, and will serve two-and-a-half years in prison, followed by two-and-a-half years of special parole.
