'Rough Landing' For Sea Plane Into Candlewood Lake In Sherman SHERMAN, Conn. — A seaplane had a "rough landing' into Candlewood Lake in Sherman on Friday. Nobody was injured in the incident, state police said on Twitter. State police troopers were assisting the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection at the scene after the plane's rough landing. Greenwich Town Employee Charged With Stealing Petty Cash GREENWICH, Conn. — An employee of the Greenwich Department of Human Services was charged with stealing petty cash from town hall, according to media reports. Police told Greenwich Time that town employees noticed a shortfall in the department's finances in July. Officers determined that 49-year-old Martha Reyes of the Bronx had taken more than $2,000 from a petty cash account, according to Greenwich Time. All Clear After Fire Alarm Goes Off At Brien McMahon High School NORWALK, Conn. -- The fire alarm went off at Brien McMahon High School on Friday afternoon due to a malfunction.The alarm went off after school, bringing fire trucks to the school and briefly disrupting after school programs. The issue was traced back to a malfunction in a smoke detector, which the facilities department will fix, the school district said. All programs were quickly back in action.

Man Arrested On Drug Charges In Norwalk After Chase Causes School Lockout NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk Police arrested a Bridgeport man on drug charges after he ran from officers on Wednesday, causing a brief lockout at two Norwalk schools, according to the Hour. Construction Begins On Bunker Improvement Project At Longshore Golf Course WESTPORT, Conn. -- The construction phase of the bunker improvement project at the Longshore Golf Course in Westport began this week with a groundbreaking ceremony on the 12th green. Monroe Man Sentenced To Prison For Distributing Crack MONROE, Conn. -- A Monroe man was sentenced to prison time Thursday for distributing crack cocaine. Dwight Jarvis, 28, was sentenced to 21 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, according to Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. According to court documents, a search of Jarvis's Monroe home on Oct. 27, 2016 turned up 29 grams of cocaine, approximately 25 grams of crack cocaine, 70 dose bags of heroin, and other items used to process and package narcotics for street sale. Two Danbury Schools Placed On Lockdown After 20-Year-Old Man Is Shot DANBURY, Conn. — A 20-year-old man was shot in both arms with buckshot near Mill Ridge Primary School and Westside Middle School Academy in Danbury on Thursday afternoon, forcing the schools to be placed on lockdown, police said. Stamford Man Charged With Assault That Left Victim With Broken Jaw STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man was charged with pulling over to the side of the road and beating another man and breaking his jaw last month, according to the Stamford Advocate.
