Work On Old Kings Highway North Will Move To Other Side Of Bridge In Darien DARIEN, Conn. -- Work on a bridge replacement project on Old Kings Highway North will shift to the other side of the overpass bridge within the next week, which is expected to improve the overall flow of traffic. The Department of Transportation contractor will be switching over to start working on the other side of the I-95 overpass bridge on Old Kings Highway North within the next week. Norwalk Police: Fairfield Woman Sent Hundreds Of Texts To Former Roommate NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk Police arrested a Fairfield woman after a former roommate reported that she had sent threatening and harassing text messages, according to the Hour. The woman's former roommate reported on Sept. 29 that she had received hundreds of messages from 20-year-old Emilee Brezina, the Hour reported. She told Norwalk Police that she and Brezina had been roommates until Brezina had taken her car without permission, according to the Hour. Stamford Man Charged With Using Heroin At Norwalk Gas Station NORWALK, Conn. — Police arrested a Stamford man at a gas station in Norwalk after officers reported seeing him injecting heroin in his car, according to the Hour. The incident took place Monday afternoon at a gas station on East Avenue, the Hour reported. Officers saw a car parked peculiarly and could see a man, identified as 33-year-old Scott Schwartz of Stamford, injecting a needle into his arm, according to the Hour. Stamford Police: Woman Stabbed Male Friend In Chest After Fight STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford woman was charged with stabbing a male friend after they got into an argument over money that he owed her, according to the Stamford Advocate. Police responded to a housing complex on Mohawk Court on Monday afternoon on a report of a man who had been stabbed in the chest, according to the Stamford Advocate. Storm Knocks Down Large Tree On Oakwood Court In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- Life is beginning to return to normal in Norwalk on Tuesday after a powerful storm slammed the city on Sunday. The storm knocked out power to hundreds of homes in Norwalk on Sunday and Monday, and as of 1 p.m. on Tuesday there were still 76 Eversource customers in the city without power. Strong winds also brought down trees in the city, such as this large one on Oakwood Court. Erin Herring shared these photos of the downed tree with the Daily Voice. She was home when it came falling down, and said it was so loud she at first thought a plane might have crashed.

Stamford Woman Charged With Stealing $13K In Scam At Darien Store DARIEN, Conn. — A Stamford woman was charged with stealing more than $13,000 through a debit card return scam while working as a cashier at a Darien store, according to the Stamford Advocate. Police told the Stamford Advocate that between October 2016 and May 2017, there were a high number of refunds to debit cards at Runner's Roost in Darien. The refunds totaled $13,787, and were made to two debit cards owned by 28-year-old Monefa Hamilton of Stamford, a cashier at the store, according to the Stamford Advocate. Purse Stolen From Unlocked Car In Darien, $1,200 Charged To Cards DARIEN, Conn. — A purse was stolen from a car that was left unlocked in Darien this weekend, and the person who stole it used it to make $1,200 worth of purchases, according to police. At around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, a resident of Hollow Tree Ridge Road in Darien checked her email and saw that she had received a "fraud alert" from her bank. When she went to her car to retrieve her purse, she saw that her center console was open and her purse was missing, police said. Eversource: All Westport Outages Expected To Be Fixed By Wednesday Evening WESTPORT, Conn. -- After thousands of people in Westport lost power on Monday, Eversource was working Tuesday to repair the couple hundred outages that remained in town, with an estimated time of restoration predicted by Wednesday evening. As of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, there were still 181 customers in Westport without power, down from more than 7,000 the day before.
