Barn Destroyed, Chickens Killed In Blaze In Redding REDDING, Conn. -- A fire destroyed a barn, killed five chickens and briefly shut down traffic on Route 58 in Redding on Friday.Firefighters responded to 128 Black Rock Turnpike in Redding at around 11 a.m. Friday on a report of a barn fire, according to the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company. In addition to Redding firefighters, mutual aid was called in from Stony Hill, Bethel, Brookfield, and Danbury, according to the News-Times. Freezing Temps And Very Strong Winds To Hit Shelton Today FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Temperatures are expected to drop to the mid-20s Friday in Fairfield County, but strong wind gusts will create wind chill values in the teens, according to the National Weather Service. Unlocked Car Stolen In New Canaan; Police Release Video Of Would-Be Thieves NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- One car was stolen in New Canaan on Thursday after it was left unlocked with the keys inside, and two other unlocked cars were entered, police said. The unlocked car that was stolen was parked on Salem Road with the keys inside, police said. Two cars that were left unlocked on Summer Street were entered and items were taken, police said. Trumbull Receives $2 Million Grant For Trail Connector On Church Hill Road TRUMBULL, Conn. The town of Trumbull will receive a $2.05 million grant from the Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program to construct a trailhead and trail connector on Church Hill Road leading to the Pequonnock River Trail. The project is in keeping with the 2014 Plan of Conservation and Development, which calls for connecting the Pequonnock Trail to Trumbull’s commercial centers. Copper Gutters Stolen Right Off Home In Wilton WILTON, Conn. — Three copper gutters worth about $900 were stolen from a home on Chestnut Hill Road in Wilton, according to the Hour. The theft was reported by a resident of the home on Sunday, according to the Hour. The resident said that he wasn't sure when they gutters were stolen, but that he had noticed they were missing while doing yard work this weekend, the Hour reported. Bridgeport Men Charged With Burglarizing Stratford Deli After Chase STRATFORD, Conn. -- Three men suspected of breaking into a deli in Stratford were arrested in Bridgeport on Saturday after a brief chase, according to the Connecticut Post. Police responded to the Pickle Barrel Deli on Main Street in Stratford on Saturday morning on a report of an alarm going off, the Connecticut Post reported. Stamford North Little League Accepting Donations For Joe DeLeo Scholarship STAMFORD, Conn. -- Monetary donations are now being accepted for a scholarship fund to benefit graduates of Stamford North Little League and its predecessors, the Springdale and North Stamford Little Leagues. The Joe "Junie" DeLeo Scholarship honors the longtime resident and local baseball legend who recently celebrated his 50th year helping kids play youth baseball in Stamford.
