Connecticut State Troopers Step Up Enforcement Over Thanksgiving FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- With thousands of people expected to hit the road during the Thanksgiving weekend, Connecticut State Police are stepping up their enforcement to keep travelers safe.Beginning Wednesday and running through Sunday, state police will have additional troopers on the road to supplement its normal routine patrol. Across the state, troopers will patrol roads and highways, focusing on aggressive driving, unsafe driving, and drunk drivers. Monroe School District Names New Superintendent MONROE, Conn. -- The Monroe Board of Education has named Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jack Zamary as the new Superintendent of Schools, according to the Monroe Courier.Zamary will replace interim Superintendent John Battista, who is retiring at the end of the 2017-18 school year, the Monroe Courier reported. The Board of Education had formed a search committee about two months ago after Battista announced his retirement, but before hiring an outside consultant to search for a replacement, they interviewed Zamary and found him to be the perfect match, according to the Courier. Bridgeport Father Charged With Shaking, Dragging Crying Baby BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A 29-year-old Bridgeport man was charged with throwing, dragging and shaking an 11-month-old baby to get him to stop crying in a store, according to the Connecticut Post. Police were called to the Fallas clothing store on Boston Avenue in Bridgeport on Saturday on a report of child abuse, the Connecticut Post reported. NY Teens Busted In Darien With Fake Credit Cards, Pot DARIEN, Conn. — Three New York residents were arrested in Darien after police said they found a credit card scanning device, numerous credit cards and several forged checks in their car. At around 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, officers were dispatched to the area of TD Bank at 54 Post Road on a report of a suspicious car. The caller told police that the black BMW with tinted windows had been backed into a spot for more than an hour. Stamford Man Charged With Crack Possession, Assaulting Police Officer STAMFORD, Conn. — An officer suffered an injury to his hand during the arrest of a Stamford man accused of selling drugs, according to the Stamford Advocate. Police had received a tip that 27-year-old Ricardo Georges was selling drugs in the South End area of Stamford, and stopped him on Ludlow and Cedar Streets on Saturday afternoon, according to the Stamford Advocate. Land Rover Reported Stolen In Greenwich Recovered GREENWICH, Conn. — A car was stolen from the driveway of a home on Lake Avenue in Greenwich last week, though it was later recovered in Waterbury, according to Greenwich Time. The 2015 Land Rover was reported stolen on Thursday morning, Greenwich Time reported. It was recovered in Waterbury on Sunday, and was processed for evidence, according to Greenwich Time. Dealer Sentenced For Selling Heroin In Fatal Bridgeport Overdose BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A former Norwalk man was sentenced to prison Monday to distributing heroin that contributed to the overdose death of a Bridgeport woman last year. Richard Piske, 34, of Manchester, was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, according to John H.
