Rockland Law Enforcement Moves To Attract Diversity Before Police Exams
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. – With the Rockland County police exams nearing, officials are working to attract diverse candidates who are more representative of the county’s communities, according to lohud.com.
The effort, it is hoped, will begin to balance several county police departments that are, by and large, white and male, according to lohud.com, which reported that the next police exams are scheduled for Nov. 19 and will be available in Spanish, French-Creole or Yiddish in addition to English.

2 New Haven Men Plead Guilty To Cocaine Charges In Mass Overdose Case
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Two New Haven men on Thursday admitted to selling the fentanyl-laced cocaine that caused 17 overdoses in a single day in June, including three deaths, according to the U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly.
Frank Pina, 57, and Steven Whaley, 48, sold the victims cocaine that later was found to have been laced with fentanyl, a powerful opioid that is at least 50 times more powerful than heroin, Daly said.

CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. – A Pearl River man who seriously injured five people while drunk and driving 90 mph on Route 304 was sentenced Tuesday to six months in the Rockland County jail, according to lohud.com.Matthew Beckerle, 50, was driving away from his family’s business, Beckerle Lumber, about 9:40 p.m. June 13, 2015, when his truck hit one car in the southbound lanes of Route 304, then careered into the northbound lanes, striking another car head-on, according to lohud.com.

Iona Council On The Arts Opens Exhibition On Book Of Psalms Images
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Iona College Council on the Arts is to present a “unique interactive exhibition” featuring the works of seven artists, according to a statement from the college.
The exhibition, “psalmsIMAGEand …” is to feature the works of Judaica artist Fred Spinowitz and photo artists, David Brown, Bart Gorin, Liv Jordan, Sagit Shans, Ahron Weiner and Scott Wright.
