Macy's To Lay Off 400-Plus New York Employees
Macy’s has announced closing dates for several of its New York stores, according to syracuse.com, which reported that the closures will leave more than 400 people out of work.
The department store chain, which is set to close about 65 stores nationally in 2017, said it will shutter stores in the upstate city of Rochester, town of Clay and village of Johnson City, and in the Douglaston section of Queens on April 18, according to syracuse.com.

Park Ridge Paves Way For Five-Story Building Downtown
PARK RIDGE, N.J. -- Borough leaders and a local developer have reached an agreement expected to bring a five-story, mixed-use development to Kinderkamack Road, according to the Pascack Press.
Citing a statement from Mayor Terry Maguire, the Pascack Press reported that the development by Park Ridge Transit, LLC will include 17,000 square feet of retail space, 240 apartments (including 24 affordable housing units), 432 parking spaces and a community center.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A New Rochelle High School junior and his mentor from The Guidance Center of Westchester are set to appear on “The Steve Harvey Show.”
According to a statement, Francisco Maldonado and his mentor, Daniel Bonnet, will appear on the Thursday, Jan. 12, episode of the show.
Bonnet, director of the Center for College & Career at The Guidance Center of Westchester, has mentored Maldonado for the past four years, according to the statement, which said that the two are expected to discuss their relationship and President Barack Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative.
