Holocaust Survivor Speaks To Pelham Students About Liberation At Buchenwald PELHAM, N.Y. -- Eighth-graders in the Pelham School District experienced a first-hand account Wednesday of the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp during the final months of World War II.According to a Facebook post from the district, Czechoslovakian-born Dr. Moshe Avita, a Holocaust survivor, spoke to the students to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the concentration camp's liberation by the U.S. Third Army on April 11, 1945. Meet Zoey, The Hi-Tor Pet Of The Week POMONA, N.Y. -- The Hi Tor Pet of the Week is Zoey, a 4-year-old female American bulldog/pit bull mix best suited to a home with older children. Zoey entered the Hi Tor Animal Care Center on Firemen's Memorial Drive as a stray, according to the shelter.  She gets along with most other dogs, but "it will depend on the other dog," the shelter said.
