Pet Adoption Through Putnam Humane Society Gives Cat A New Lease On Life
CARMEL, N.Y. -- Thank goodness for nine lives.Nia, a cat who came to the Putnam Humane Society as a "tiny, fragile kitten" with an inoperable hole in her heart, would not lay down and give up.
Instead, the kitten, described as a "fighter," hung in there and recovered enough to be adopted on Aug. 5, 2015, according to the Humane Society.
Today, the once-skinny, special needs kitten, is a flourishing cat who is taller than the dogs living in her home, according to the Humane Society, which thanked Nia's owner, Amee, for stepping up to provide a good home.

Playland Set To Open This Weekend, Moms Ride Free On Mother's Day
RYE, N.Y. -- Its slogan is "Have some FUN today!" but we're angling for Saturday when Rye Playland officially opens its 2016 season.The May 7 opening comes with ticket deals, including a $15 special that allows entrance to the park and rides from noon - 7 p.m.
The next day, Mother's Day, the park has another special going: Moms Ride Free. While most people will again have the chance to enter the park for $15, those mothers in crowd will gain entrance at no cost.
Saturday and Sunday are part of the park's May Day special, which also allows for $15 entry on May 14, 15, 21, 22 and 27…
