She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She attended Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida.

CT Man Arrested For Sexual Assault A Connecticut man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman earlier this year. Gavin Armstrong, age 20, of Voluntown, in New London County, was arrested on a warrant by the Plainfield Police in Windham County for the incident which took place in June. According to the Plainfield Police, the arrest stems from disclosure on Saturday, June 12, from a woman who reported the sexual assault. Fire Breaks Out At Home Under Construction In Area A fire damaged a home under construction in the area. The fire started around 11:19 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16 in Rockland County at 48 Briarcliff Drive in Monsey. According to the Monsey Fire Department, when firefighters arrived on the scene they found a working fire in the basement of the home. Crews were able to make a quick initial push and had the fire extinguished shortly, keeping the fire contained to the room of origin, the department said. No one was injured in the fire. Area Sex Offender Who Failed To Register Found With Two Kids, Police Say A sex offender who failed to notify area authorities of his change of address was arrested in the company of two kids. The unidentified 31-year-old Ulster County resident, from Ellenville, was apprehended around 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11 on an active warrant by members of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office. An investigation revealed the man was in the company of two minors and he failed to make notification of his address change as required by New York State law. One Killed In Fiery, Head-On Westchester Crash One person was killed and another injured during a head-on crash between a fuel tanker and a four-door sedan in Westchester County. The crash took place around 11:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 17, on Route 9A, also known as Saw Mill River Road, in Greenburgh. According to Lt. Kobie Powell, of the Greenburgh Police, following the crash, the cab of the truck and the sedan burst into flames. The driver of the sedan was killed, he added. Handgun Stolen In Connecticut Recovered From 17-Year-Old, Police Say A juvenile was arrested with a loaded handgun stolen out of Connecticut after being stopped by officers in Western Massachusetts. The 17-year-old teen boy was stopped around 10:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, when members of the Springfield Police Department in Hampden County spotted him remove the firearm from his sweatshirt pocket and then put it back in. Man Charged With Hate Crime, Making Threats In Fairfield County A Fairfield County man has been charged with a hate crime after he allegedly accosted a masonry worker and yelled racist language at the man. Joseph Soracco, age 61, of Fairfield, was arrested on around 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16. Area Man Accused Of Murdering Best Friend An area man has been indicted for allegedly murdering his best friend. Gregory Thayer, age 48, of the Town of Ulster was indicted on Friday, Oct. 15, by an Ulster County grand jury for murder and criminal possession of a weapon, said the District Attorney's Office. Suspect At Large After 30-Year-Old Shot, Killed On CT Street Police in Connecticut are searching for a suspect after a man was found shot dead on a city street. The 30-year-old New Haven man was found shot around 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 17, by New Haven Police responding to a Shotspotter alert and 911 calls regarding gunfire in the area. Police Involved In Standoff At CT Motel A suspected bank robber was nabbed following an hours-long standoff with police at a Connecticut hotel.
