Man Injured By Machete While Hiking In Hudson Valley A hiker in the Hudson Valley who was seriously injured after stepping on a machete while getting out of a hammock had to be rescued by forest rangers. The hiker, a man in his 50s from Hyde Park, was rescued around 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, in Dutchess County while hiking at the Taconic Hereford Multiple Use Area in Pleasant Valley, said the state Department of Environmental Conservation. Police Ask Public's Help In Identifying Alleged Mail Thief In Fairfield County Police are asking the public for help identifying a man who was allegedly caught on camera stealing packages from an apartment complex in Fairfield County. The man was caught on surveillance video stealing the packages from the mailroom at 99 Prospect St., in Stamford around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 15, said Sgt. Bill Brevard, of the Stamford Police. Ex-Husband Of Popular TV Reporter Sentenced In Hudson Valley Domestic Violence Case The ex-husband of a popular Hudson Valley TV reporter has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for domestic violence. Orange County resident Sean Doyle, age 38, of Cornwall, was sentenced on Tuesday, Nov. 16 in connection with crimes related to domestic violence against News 12 reporter Blaise Gomez, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler. On Monday, May 10, Doyle pled guilty to the crimes of coercion, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. One In Custody After Incident Puts Fairfield County Neighborhood On Lockdown Residents in one Fairfield County town were warned to stay in their homes during an armed standoff with a suspect following a domestic dispute. The incident took place around 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16 in Trumbull. That's when officers were called to a home in the Tashua Road area for a domestic disturbance, said Captain Keith Golding of the Trumbull Police. 13-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With Shot Fired Outside High School In Hudson Valley A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with shots fired outside an area high school. The incident took place around 3:15 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15, in Dutchess County. That's when the City of Poughkeepsie Police received numerous 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area of Poughkeepsie High School. According to Det. Lt. Person Struck, Killed By Lirr Train A person on the tracks of the Long Island Railroad was hit by a train and killed overnight. The incident took place around 10:54 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16 just east of Mineola, said LIRR officials. The person was pronounced dead on the scene. An investigation will determine additional details, LIRR said. Power was removed and train service was disrupted on a portion of the mainline until approximately 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17. Five Found Dead After Massive House Fire Breaks Out In New York Five people were found dead inside a Long Island home following a massive fire overnight. The blaze broke out around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at a three-story Riverhead residence located at 46 East 2nd St., said the Suffolk County Police. 64-Year-Old Area Man Arrested For Sex Abuse, State Police Say An area man has been arrested for sexual abuse after allegedly touching the victim under their clothes. Dutchess County resident Dennis A. Robison, age 64, of Pine Plains was arrested on Monday, Nov. 15 in Rhinebeck for sexual abuse, said Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police. After receiving a complaint of inappropriate behavior, an investigation determined Robison touched the victim beneath the clothing for the purpose of sexual gratification, Hicks said. Robison was arraigned and released on his own recognizance to reappear before the court on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Car Crashes Into CT CVS Two people were injured when the driver of a 2017 Toyota Prius crashed into the side of a CVS store in the region. One Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash In Region A man was killed during a two-vehicle head-on crash in Western Massachusetts. The crash took place in Springfield around 6:45 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16 on the 200 block of Worcester Street near the Chicopee line. According to Springfield Police, one car crossed over the center lane and collided with another vehicle.
