More Than 50 Animals Perished In Massive Barn Fire In Central PA 48 cows and five horses were killed in a massive barn fire in Ephrata, authorities say. Fire crews were called to a fire at a dairy barn in the 200 block of Wanner Road in Earl Township near Ephrata just before 3 a m. On Wednesday, August 31, according to Garden Spot Fire and Rescue. Upon arrival the fire chief found a 60x120 dairy barn with fire throughout.  One cow and a horse were rescued from the blaze, fire crews say. No humans were harmed but the barn was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
