Peekskill Fire Department Battles 'Tough Blaze In Difficult Weather' This story has been updated. PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- A home in Peekskill was destroyed by a fire Monday, though no injuries were reported. The home, at 140 Fremont Street, collapsed, according to Mayor Frank Catalina. Catalina said the house was fully engulfed upon arrival in the early evening. The bulk of the fire had been contained by 8:45 p.m. Firefighters are still on the scene, Catalina said. Two Firefighters Injured Battling Briarcliff Blaze BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- A fire on Long Hill Road East in Briarcliff injured two firefighters Saturday afternoon. The two firefighters suffered smoke inhalation fighting the fire and were taken to a hospital, according to LoHud. It took firefighters two hours to extinguish the blaze, which heavily damaged the house, according to LoHud. A woman who was inside the house when the fire occured was not injured, according to LoHud.

'No Confirmed Reports Of Gunfire' In FDR State Park Incident YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A potential shooting that occurred at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights Sunday remains under investigation by New York State Park Police. On Sunday at 9:02 p.m., State Park Police responded to noises similar to gunfire near parking lot #1 at the park, according to Randy Simons, public information officer for the park police. Ossining's Martha Quinn Named Greatest MTV VJ OSSINING, N.Y. -- Martha Quinn, a graduate of Ossining High School, was named MTV's greatest VJ ever in an article at MSN.com. Quinn was one of the network's original VJs. According to the article, Quinn auditioned for MTV without knowing what she'd be auditioning for and was hired two days later. Garrison's George Pataki Lags In Presidential Fundraising GARRISON, N.Y. -- When it comes to fundraising, Gov. George Pataki's campaign is lagging behind his rivals. Pataki, who lives in Garrison and previously served as mayor of Peekskill, is ranked last among all presidential candidates in money raised, having raised only $255,794 through June 30 according to the Federal Election Commission. According to the FEC, 69 percent of Pataki's donations were for $2,700, the maximum allowed to any candidate. Pataki has spent 18.8 percent of his campaign's money, $48,174 and has $207,620 left, according to the FEC.

Lifeguards At FDR State Park Save Child From Drowning YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Lifeguards at FDR State Park in Yorktown sprang into action Thursday and helped save the life of a child who was found unconscious in the water. Lifeguard Keith Mattos saw the child, believed to be around 4 years old, bobbing in the water and initiated a trauma save at around 1:30 p.m., according to park manager Brian Strasavich. The child, who was there with a camp, was not breathing and had no pulse, but after Mattos performed CPR, the child started coughing up water and showing signs of life. Yorktown Supervisor's Son Charged With Stealing Cash From A Party YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Henry Grace, the 22-year-old son of Supervisor Michael Grace, was arrested and charged in Yorktown with grand larceny in the 4th degree, a Class E felony. Grace allegedly stole $3,000 from a security box at a party in Yorktown, police said. Grace was released on his own recognizance and will appear in Yorktown Town Court on August 18. In 2012, Grace was arrested twice. Sleepy Hollow Man Drowns In Hudson River In Tarrytown TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- A 43-year-old man from Sleepy Hollow drowned in the Hudson River at Pierson Park located at the end of West Main Street Friday. According to police, the victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family entered the water and proceeded to swim away from the shore.
