An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Dora Calabro, 97, Ossining OSSINING, N.Y. -- Dora Calabro, an Ossining native, died last week at the age of 97. Calabro was born in Italy and immigrated to Ellis Island when she was nine, settling with her family in Ossining in 1929. Calabro learned to knit and made many of the garments she wore as The family struggled through The Great Depression.During World War II, Calabro did her part by working as a nurse’s aide. Her passion for and dedication to this job earned her a special citation from President Harry Truman. Calabro married her husband, Joe, in 1946. Father, Son Stole Money From Elderly Woman, Yorktown Police Say YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A father and son duo from Harrison were arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing money from an elderly woman who lived at a senior living complex. John E. MacInnes, Sr., 54 and John E. MacInnes, Jr., 26, were arrested and charged with petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor. Police were called to The Country House to investigate a past larceny, and determined the MacInnes' entered her room and stole money from her. They were released on their own recognizance and are due back in Yorktown Town Court on June 13.

NY Medical College, Westchester Medical Center Announce Long-Term Agreement VALHALLA, N.Y., -- New York Medical College and the Westchester Medical Center Health Network announced Wednesday a 12-year agreement that they hope will strengthen medical research and clinical care. Josephine Milani, 100, Ossining OSSINING, N.Y. -- Josephine Milani, an Ossining resident, died Monday at the age of 100. Milani was born in Illinois and raised in New York City. She received a BA from Hunter College and an MA from Columbia University. Her main subject of study was foreign languages and was licensed to teach French, Spanish, Italian and English. She taught for 25 years in various high schools and at one time, also taught at Marymount College in New York City.
