West Milford Group Needs Volunteers To Harvest Crops For Food Pantries
WEST MILFORD, N.J. – Sustainable West Milford is searching for volunteers to aid in the harvesting of fresh produce at Apple Acres Farm at 6 p.m. Friday. Plans are to bring the produce harvested to the four local pantries in the area -- Queen of Peace, Holy Faith, St. Joseph’s and West Milford Presbyterian Church. The organization holds harvesting events every Friday from June to October and accepts donations from local farmers. Hackensack Art Exhibit Shows State Of Women's Equality
HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Bergen County Commission on the Status of Women, launched by the Department of Human Services, will host a monthlong art exhibit on women's equality beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 3. The exhibit was the idea of Commission Administrator Jamie Ziegelhofer, who sent requests to every K-12 school in the county for artwork from students. Each artist whose work is displayed will be invited to the unveiling on Aug. 3 at 10:30 a.m., when local dignitaries will give speeches, and certificates will be handed out to the artists.

Heat Steams Up Weekend In Bridgeport
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Those who like the heat will love this weekend's weather throughout Fairfield County. The rest of the weekend brings heat and sun, as today's and tomorrow's highs are both going to be around 90 and sunny. The Saturday high neared 94, and Sunday's high will nudge 90. Each evening's low will stay on the warm side, as Saturday night's low will be 66, and Sunday's will be 68 with patchy fog after 3 a.m. Forecasts also predict the heat will stay throughout the week, as highs will stay in the 80s and 90s.

Heat Advisory In Effect For Westchester
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – With heat, humidity and expected 90-degree temperatures in the weather forecast through next week, a heat advisory is in effect for all of Westchester County. The county is offering various places for people to stay and cool off. Couple Charged With Stealing Cooking Oil From Westport Restaurant
WESTPORT, Conn. – A Yonkers couple was arrested in Westport on Monday morning on charges of attempting to steal cooking oil from a restaurant, police said. Jonathan Garces, 22, and Alondra Aracil, 19, were found by officers while "actively siphoning cooking oil from the tank" located at the back of the Five Guys restaurant in Westport, police said. Police had been alerted to a report of a white van with New York plates and the attempted theft of cooking oil at Five Guys. State Police Seek Help In Investigation Into Shooting At I-95 Rest Area
MILFORD, Conn. – Connecticut State Police put out a public request for information after a suspected shooting along I-95 in Milford overnight. Troopers got a call at about 2 a.m. Friday about a suspicious incident at the Milford rest area on I-95 southbound. When troopers arrived, they discovered a tractor-trailer in the rear of the rest area with a single bullet hole on the driver's side. Bethel Fire Department Responded To 42 Calls In June
BETHEL, Conn. – The Bethel Volunteer Fire Department has released their report blotter for the month of June. The department dealt with 42 calls in total. The list included: 22 automatic alarms Five motor vehicle incidents One car fire Two downed wire incidents One gas leak One carbon dioxide call Two EMS assists One spill control incident Seven brush fires In addition, there were 132 EMS runs for the month of June.

Westport Accident Overnight Knocks Out Power, Injures Driver
WESTPORT, Conn. – Power has been restored after a car accident late Monday night knocked out power to a Westport neighborhood and sent a driver to the hospital, according to News 12. The driver hit a utility pole on Greens Farms Road, cracking the pole and knocking out power, News 12 said. Authorities said the accident happened before midnight, reported News 12.
