Blauvelt Sons Of Italy Unveils Bocce Tournament
BLAUVELT, N.Y. – The Blauvelt chapter of the Sons of Italy held their first-ever bocce tournament last month on a court built to honor a former member, complete with lights for night play and spectator seating. The Lodge 2176 team finished first in a five-team field, and the second-place team was made up of members of the H.H. Rogers/Cabrini Lodge from Tuxedo. Team members included Greg DeCola, Paul Borghese, Rich Bonardi, Carl Dornbush, Rich Delponte, Lou Ferrara and Joe Saccao, among others. Area Veterans Honored At Freedom Flotilla
NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Local military veterans were honored with a ride north on the Hudson River as part of the Freedom Flotilla event on Saturday, according to HVNN.com. A group of about 30 ships hosting veterans ranging from members of the Wounded Warrior Project to World War II veterans made the trek north, HVNN.com.said. Boats from Newburgh, Cortlandt and Ossining partnered together to make the event happen, reported HVNN.com. Westchester County Legislators Reviewing Proposed Biomedical Project
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – The Westchester County Board of Legislators is going to 'extensively review' a proposed biomedical project near the Medical Center, according to the Examiner News. Board Chairman Michael Kaplowitz made the comments last week as the mayor of Mount Pleasant expressed concern about the length of time needed to review the project, the News said. SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A concerned owner is looking for her cat in Scarsdale, as the short hair brown tabby has been missing since July 21. The cat, known as Tiki, went out to play near the Scarsdale Fairway Apartments and hasn't come home. She doesn't have a collar, but is microchipped. New City Fire Department Responds To Car Accident
NEW CITY, N.Y. – New City Fire Engine, No. 1 responded to a call early Monday morning of an accident. The fire chief went to the scene and discovered a car that had run off the road and cracked a utility pole. Crews were able to secure the vehicle, get the driver medical assistance and ensure that there was no electrical problem by having O&R Electric inspect the scene.

FISHKILL, N.Y. – Those in Fishkill looking for fast-casual Tex-Mex will not have to wait much longer as the Planning Board approved a site plan that clears the way for a new Chipotle location, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. The Planning Board approved an addition to the Hudson Valley Towne Center during a meeting earlier this week, the Journal said. Westchester Man, Woman Charged With Siphoning Cooking Oil From Five Guys
A Yonkers couple was arrested in last week on charges of attempting to steal cooking oil from a restaurant in Westport, Conn., police said. Jonathan Garces, 22, and Alondra Aracil, 19, were found by officers while "actively siphoning cooking oil from the tank" located at the back of the Five Guys restaurant in Westport, police said. WEST MILFORD, N.J. – Sustainable West Milford is searching for volunteers to aid in the harvesting of fresh produce at Apple Acres Farm at 6 p.m. Friday.
