I started my professional life as a research psychologist (not the "do you love your mother" kind). I enjoyed research and teaching, but noticed that I spent most of my non-classroom time writing and editing, often to help other people.

When I left academia,  all the "you should be a writer" admonitions followed me to job interviews. I've been squeezing in part-time writing and editing jobs for about 9 years, so now I am happily doing it full time.

Nikisher-Guinee, 53, Peekskill, with petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a minor, both class A misdemeanors, according to a police report. Police Officer R. Rohr went to Sears following a larceny complaint. After Rohr investigated, he alleged that Nikisher-Guinee took two plastic folding chairs, valued at $45.98 total, marked them with Sears tape as if they had been paid for, and then left the store, according to the police report. Kitten Trapped In Orangeburg Storm Drain Dies ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- News 12  reported a sad ending to the story of an Orangeburg kitten that had been trapped in a storm drain for two days.Runoff and heavy rain filled the drain, while a heavy grate hampered rescue.
