Police Search For Man Accused Of Stealing $1,200 In Cash At Suffolk County Deli Police are asking the public for help identifying and locating a man accused of stealing an envelope containing $1,200 in cash from a customer at a Long Island deli. At about 12:40 p.m. on Friday, April 23, a man claimed ownership of the envelope that was left on the counter by another customer and was being held by an employee at Taveras Deli, Grocery & Catering, the Suffolk County Police Department said. Covid-19: Study Reveals Which Masks Are Most Effective Battling Virus A new study found that the N95 and KN95 masks are significantly more effective at preventing airborne transmission of COVID-19 than cloth or surgical facemasks. Experiments for the study were conducted by the Fluid Mechanics Research Laboratory at the University of Waterloo. The study was published online in July. Researchers reported that all the masks tested in the study provided protection in the immediate vicinity of the wearer "primarily through the redirection and reduction of expiratory momentum." Duo Arrested In Suffolk County For Alleged Attempt To Scam Woman Of $50K Two men were nabbed for allegedly trying to scam a woman out of $50,000 on Long Island. A Michigan woman received a call from an individual saying her grandson had been arrested after a motor vehicle crash and needed bail money, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. On Friday, Aug. 20, the woman sent $10,000 in cash to an address in Brooklyn, SCPD reported. Man Tries To Flee In FedEx Truck After Crashing Into Vehicles In Nassau County, Police Say A Massachusetts man was apprehended on Long Island for allegedly crashing into multiple vehicles and attempting to flee the scene in an occupied FedEx truck. Massachusetts Man Convicted Of Conspiracy To Distribute Cocaine A 47-year-old Massachusetts man was convicted by a federal jury of conspiring to distribute cocaine. Worcester County resident Bruce Marando, of Sutton, was convicted following a four-day trial, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts announced on Friday, Aug. 20. Covid-19: Brand-New CDC Study Reveals Vaccines' Effectiveness Against Delta Variant A study published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reveals that the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines at preventing infection may have decreased as the delta variant has become the predominant strain in the United States. Woman Accused Of Driving Stolen Van To Police Headquarters In Westchester A 74-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly driving a van reported stolen in Vermont to a police department in New York, in Northern Westchester County.
