Talk By Author James McBride For WestportReads Postponed Due To Snow WESTPORT, Conn. -- A talk by bestselling author and musician James McBride, whose book "Miracle at St. Anna" is this year’s WestportREADS selection, has been postponed due to the approaching snowstorm.  The talk, the keynote address for the month-long community reads program, had been set for Saturday, Jan. 23. She loved all animals, especially her rescue cats. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan, and he cherished being with family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Sylvia; daughter Sari and her mother, Phyllis Horowitz; daughters Lara and Emma and their mother, Karen Grinthal; brother Michael and his wife Evelyn; brother Russell and his wife Joanne; several nieces and nephews; and longtime girlfriend Kim Rowe. Vernon was predeceased by his father, William, and his brother Robert.

In 1942, when he was 12, Lazowski escaped from the Polish town of Zetl and lived for two years in the woods as a member of a partisan group that worked to thwart the Nazis.
