A wild late-night police chase in Garfield last November ended with the arrests of three people — including two this month — on multiple weapons and assault charges, including one who allegedly dragged an officer with a getaway car, authorities said.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of Christian V. Cepeda, 20, of Paterson; Dante N. Braxton, 20, of Paterson; and Elias X. Montanez, 20, of Elizabeth, following the Nov. 17, 2024, incident on River Drive, which left three Garfield officers injured.

A police chase that spilled onto Route 4 in Paramus brought traffic to a halt Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 25 as officers pursued a suspect tied to a counterfeit cash scheme, authorities said.
The incident unfolded around 4:30 p.m. when Paramus and River Edge police began pursuing men later identified as Corey Jones, 29, of Roosevelt, NY, and Isaiah Corbin, 46, of Queens, NY, in connection with fake U.S. currency being used at the Bergen Town Center, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said.

Dumont Dad, Little League Coach John Daly Dies, 55
The Dumont community is mourning the loss of John P. Daly, a dedicated father, coach, and carpenter, who died on Friday, Feb. 21. He was 55 years old.
Born in the Bronx, NY, John built a career as a carpenter with Local #157 at the Bloomberg Data Center in Orangeburg, NY, according to his obituary on the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home website.
Beyond his work, John was deeply involved in his community, serving as a coach for Dumont Junior Football and Dumont Little League Baseball. He was also a member of the Dumont Police Reserves for many years, his obituary states.
