Video: State Troopers Rescue Man From Burning Car On I-84 MIDDLEBURY, Conn. — Connecticut State Police troopers rescued a New York man from a burning car on I-84 westbound in Middlebury on Monday. At around 2:30 p.m. Monday, troopers from Troop A-Southbury were dispatched to I-84 westbound at Exit 17 in Middlebury for a one-car crash. The vehicle had gone off the road and caught fire. The car, which had veered off the highway for unknown reasons, struck a rock face ledge on the right shoulder, police said. Sgt. Three Unlocked Cars Stolen In Greenwich Over The Holidays GREENWICH, Conn. — Three cars that had been left unlocked were reported stolen in Greenwich over the holiday weekend, according to Greenwich Patch. A 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe was reported stolen from a home on Florence Road on Friday, and the following day a 2016 Mazda CX-9 was taken from a home on Jackson Street, and a 2015 Audi A6 was stolen on Ridge Road, according to Patch. All three were left unlocked in driveways with the keys inside, Patch reported. Police told Patch that there has been an increasing number of car thefts in town. Bear Euthanized After Attacking Miniature Horses In Southbury, Killing One SOUTHBURY, Conn. -- A bear attacked two miniature horses and killed one of them on Saturday afternoon in Southbury, according to the News-Times. The female black bear, which weighed about 150 pounds, attacked the two horses at a home on Bucks Hill Road, according to the News-Times. The attack took place in a closed pen, the News-Times reported. Suspects In Stolen Subaru Flee From Two Crashes In Stratford STRATFORD, Conn. -- The suspects in a hit-and-run accident on I-95 who fled the scene and then caused a multi-vehicle crash on the Merritt Parkway in Stratford were driving a stolen Subaru, according to police. At about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Stratford Police assisted Connecticut State Police in searching for the suspects, who had fled the scene of a two-car accident on I-95 northbound near Exit 33, police said. Connecticut Sends 13 State Troopers To Puerto Rico To Help After Hurricanes FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Connecticut has deployed 13 state troopers to Puerto Rico to help with post-hurricane recovery efforts. The state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection deployed the troopers, who departed Bradley Airport early Monday. Norwalk Man Charged With Leading Police On Chase In Stolen Car NORWALK, Conn. — A Norwalk man led police on a chase in a stolen car and on foot before eventually being arrested on Sunday night, according to the Hour.
