Poughkeepsie City School Board OKs $150,000 For New Boiler
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – During an emergency meeting on Sunday, the Poughkeepsie school district Board of Education approved up to $150,000 for rental and replacement costs for a boiler at Christopher Columbus Elementary School, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
The building, which is now home to the Poughkeepsie Academic and Career Excellence (PACE) Academy, needed the boiler to ensure the well-being of the students and staff, according to the Journal, which cited wording taken from the board’s resolution.

Tax Preparer Sentenced In White Plains For Filing False Returns
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A Mount Vernon tax preparer was sentenced Tuesday to more than four years in federal prison for obstructing the IRS and preparing false and fraudulent income tax returns for his clients, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Samuel Gentle, who operated GenGen, Inc., and GenGen Financial, Inc. in Mount Vernon, prepared about 3,200 tax returns each year from 2010-2014, routinely inflating deductions for business expenses and gifts to charity, said U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara in a statement released after the sentencing.

Police: Ex-Hospital Aide Arrested In Stratford With 180 Oxycodone Pills
STRATFORD, Conn. – A Bronx man found with 180 Oxycodone pills, multiple prescription slips and several credit cards during a Monday traffic stop is facing a host of criminal charges in Stratford, according to the Connecticut Post.
Chad Augustus, 32, a former hospital aide at Metropolitan Hospital in New York City, is accused of fraudulently purchasing the prescription pills and then selling them in the Stratford area, according to the Post.
