Shelton Nursing Home Fined For Patient Injury
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Nursing homes in Shelton, Norwalk and Danbury are facing thousands in fines after state officials found residents in each home had suffered injuries, according to the Connecticut Post.In Shelton, the Bishop Wicke Health & Rehabilitation Center was fined $2,160 by the Department of Public Health in connection with a resident who suffered an inoperable brain bleed after a fall on Oct. 24, according to the Connecticut Post. Darien Police Investigate Theft Of Laptop From Holmes Elementary
DARIEN, Conn. -- A laptop computer was recently reported stolen from Holmes Elementary School, according to the Darien Times. Video surveillance footage apparently shows someone entering the school about 3 p.m. on May 27 near the chapel, according to the Darien Times, which reported that the suspect is believed to have left a short time later through a rear door. Hasbrouck Heights To Kickoff Summer With Patriotic Parade
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. – The borough of Hasbrouck Heights has scheduled a free day to welcome the summer season and celebrate the nation’s independence. At 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, the borough is scheduled to hold the “Kickoff the Summer Patriotic Parade and Party." The event is to start at the Central Avenue Parking Lot across from the Senior Center. PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- A Port Chester pet owner is searching for a cat that has been missing since Friday afternoon, according to the Lost Pets of Westchester County Facebook page. Bear Tranquilized, Removed From Stratford Yard
STRATFORD, Conn. – A black bear cub was tranquilized and removed from a Clover Street backyard Friday, but not before causing the evacuation of a little league field, according to News 12. The animal was first spotted around 5:30 p.m. after he cut through several backyards before hopping a fence and climbing up a tree, according to News 12. SUFFERN, N.Y. -- The 2015-16 school year is coming to a close with the North Rockland Red Raiders as the big winners in track, according to lohud.com. New Rochelle Man Guilty Of Raping Girl, 8, Gets 9 Years In Prison
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A New Rochelle man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for raping an 8-year-old girl, according to lohud.com. Yordy Lopez, 24, had pleaded guilty to a felony count of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child prior to his June 7 sentencing, according to lohud.com. Citing officials with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, lohud.com reported Lopez sexually abused the girl on multiple occasions starting when she was 8 years old in September 2010 and continuing through November 2011. West Harrison's Sgt. Lemm 'A True American Hero,' Says Mayor
HARRISON, N.Y. – The following is a letter from Harrison Mayor Ron Belmont to the community: It was a privilege to attend the recent ceremony at the Kensico Dam, hosted by Westchester County, for the unveiling of a bronze plaque honoring West Harrison resident, Tech. Sgt. Joseph Lemm, who was killed in December by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan. The plaque is part of a memorial that honors residents who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.
