The fire began around midnight on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 140 Marilyn Drive, in Bridgeport, said Terron Jones, a spokesman for the fire department. Responding fire units reported a heavy fire in the ranch-style home.  The couple who lived at the home were alerted by smoke alarms and were able to safely escape, Jones said.
