Sinkhole Opens Up In Palmer Township, Officials Say Crews are at the scene of a sinkhole in Palmer Township on Wednesday morning, March 27, PennDOT says.  The sinkhole opened up on Tuesday, March 26 in the same spot where one was repaired on the Main Street shoulder last week, a spokesperson said. The current sinkhole is in the eastbound lanes.  "Action has been taken to mobilize equipment, prepare blacktop, and get flowable fill," said PennDOT's Ron Young.  "Some equipment is already on site and repairs are underway this morning."

Large Sinkhole Reroutes Traffic On Route 202 In Montco: Authorities Crews are working to patch up a sinkhole that collapsed a portion of East Dekalb Pike/Route 202 in King of Prussia on Monday, July 10. It happened between the Tires Plus and Walgreens stores just east of the Pike's intersection with South Henderson Road, Upper Merion police said.  Repairs are expected to take all day Tuesday, July 11, they added. Traffic is being detoured to Saulin Boulevard and South Henderson as workers repair the highway.  Drivers should avoid the area entirely if possible, authorities said.

Sinkhole Repairs On I-270 Expected To Take Longer Than Originally Thought The massive sinkhole that took over the southbound lanes of a Maryland Highway is going to close the interstate for much longer than expected, reports WTOP. Recent and expected weather is causing delays in plans to repair the 30 foot sinkhole on I-270 in Gaithersburg, the outlet reports.  Two lanes were shut down on the highway to repair the damage, which is now expected to hopefully reopen by July 4th weekend. The hole first appeared the morning of July 14 when the paved road gave way and a parked car sank about halfway into the hole. No one was injured in the surprise incident, said Erin Hastings, executive director of Westcomm Regional Dispatch. It is not clear what caused the sinkhole to open, but Hastings said dispatch was made aware of a nearby water main break that may have had something to do with it.
