Off-Duty Officer ID'd As Victim Of Double-Fatal Northern Westchester Crash One of the victims of a double-fatal two-vehicle crash in Northern Westchester has been identified as a longtime police officer in Westchester who lived in Putnam County. The crash occurred in Yorktown at around 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 25 on Route 6N. When Yorktown Police and fire officials arrived on the scene, they found Michael J. Moore, a 50-year-old Mahopac resident who was the driver of one of the vehicles, dead. A 56-year-old woman, the driver of the second vehicle, also of Mahopac, was found injured and transported to Westchester Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries…

Putnam Sheriff’s Department Launches New Marine-Patrol Vessel Have you spotted a new marine vessel patrolling Lake Mahopac? Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. announced his office has launched a 2012 Boston Whaler that can search in the dark and handle water emergencies. The newer, 21-foot vessel replaces an 18-foot Boston Whaler built in 1998. In addition to a standard marine-patrol vessel package, the new watercraft comes equipped with radar and a forward-looking infrared camera.  In a news release, Langley said that the newly equipped vessel will increase the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office capabilities for searching Lake Mahopac at night …
